I’ve made extended editions for the Harry Potter films, but I did not add in every single deleted scene. I only added in scenes that help complete the films, as well as allowing the films to still function properly like their theatrical versions.

These are the scenes I added in.

Dudley’s School Photos
Letters in the Eggs
Harry & Hagrid’s Subway Ride
Potions Class
Mountain Troll Aftermath
Harry & Ron on the Mirror of Erised
Neville’s Leg-Locker Curse

THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS:
The Malfoys in Borgan & Burkes
Harry & Ron Starting Up the Car
Colin Creevey’s Introduction
Gilderoy Lockhart’s Quiz
Extended Quidditch Match
Justin Finch-Fletchley’s Introduction
Harry & Hedwig
The Hufflepuffs Discussing Harry
The Trio in the Snow
Harry & Ron Hiding Crabbe & Goyle
Discussing Tom Riddle’s Diary in the Hospital Wing

THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN:
Extended Knight Bus Ride
Hogsmeade Aftermath
Fat Lady Aftermath

THE GOBLET OF FIRE:
Hogwarts Song
Harry Attempting to Ask Out Cho
The Durmstrang Asking a Hogwarts Student Out
The INTRODUCTION to the Weird Sisters
Snape & Karkaroff’s Conversation
Extended Second Task Aftermath
The Trio Discussing Barty Crouch’s Death
The Trio Discussing Karkaroff’s Dark Mark

THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX:
Extended Aftermath of Harry’s Detention
Beginning of the Inquisitorial Squad
Aftermath of the Weasley Twins’ Exit

Harry & Hermione Discussing Horcruxes

THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1:

Interesting to note, nl0428. Perhaps I should draw inspiration from your extended editions for my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows edit. 😉

Thanks for your feedback! I made extended editions just because I remember seeing ABC air extended versions of the Harry Potter movies some years back.

I’ve had several people ask if I will be doing an extended version of Crimes of Grindelwald when it comes out later this month. I have seen the official extended cut that was put out and apart from a couple of cut scenes, all of the other deleted scenes are already in place. I’m not a fan of them putting “Deleted Scene” in the bottom corner of each when it was inserted into the movie, so I will likely go in overlay clips from the deleted scenes to get rid of that text for my own personal collection. But there really isn’t a lot additional to add in order to release my own version.

I am toying with the idea of using the clips that were not reinserted into Crimes of Grindelwald and insert them into the credits of Fantastic Beasts, since they feel like they belong there more than in the second movie. I just haven’t decided at this point.

Hi, I am new to the site and I was wondering how I would send a PM? i do currently own all 8 movies and I was looking to obtain the extended versions, i’m not sure if ii need to prove that i won them other than sending a picture of the movies?

Hoping you are able to release your version of Crimes of Grindelwald to keep the string of quality releases alive!!! Definitely looking forward to your version and fingers crossed you make one available!

A viewer recently made a suggestion to me to add some effects to one of the Deathly Hallows deleted scenes to make it more visually appealing and add more action to it. I have been playing around with this scene, the Rabbit Chase scene. Below is the most recent rendering of the scene. This modification is not in any of my current releases, but may appear in a future release.

If you do the Crimes of Grindelwald, JJPotter, it would be great if you did a color corrected (or at least brightened) edition. David Yates must have the eyes of an owl.

I will know in a week or two whether I will be doing an edit. I ordered my copy from the UK and their discs ship starting on Monday.

Hey! I’m in love with the idea of this. Will you be doing an extended edition of the first Fantastic Beasts film as well? And I would absolutely love an “ultimate” extended Crimes of Grindelwald, including Credence Reborn/At the Docks. I’ve been meaning to attempt one myself, but I’m not sure if mine would be on par with the quality of yours! All in all, thank you for the amazing work you’re doing. I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this thread to keep up with eventual green screen fixes and ultimate extended releases, you are a hero!

I’ve already created and released an edit of the first Fantastic Beasts movie.

Yes, sorry, my bad! Didn’t see it on this thread but stumbled across it on fanedits. It’s amazing!

Any word on the likelihood of a Crimes of Grindelwald extended edition? Even just the overlayed version which you mentioned to remove the “Deleted Scene” text in the corner would be appreciated, and the idea of adding the extra scenes to the end of Fantastic Beasts sounds amazing!

The next JJPotter Extended Edition from the Wizarding World is now in progress. I am working on creating my own extended version of Crimes of Grindelwald. There are several scenes that were not used in the official Extended Cut which I plan on incorporating into my EE. This will add another 5+ minutes of footage. My cut will also not have “Deleted Scene” in the bottom left corner of any of the scenes. As I complete inserting the deleted scenes, I will post previews.

Initial cuts/insertions have been made and demo clips are available. I’m quite pleased with the new intro, despite the clips with unfinished special effects.

If possible it would be amazing and and also chronologically correct if you can insert the short pan and zoom scenes of the exterior of the Great Hall and Viaduct from the first PS and CoS.

Although, you can also choose for the pan and zoom scenes from film 3-5 because in CoG the Viaduct Courtyard and “new” Great Hall frontside is in the background. Then you don’t have to deal with (getting digitally rid of) the Chamber of Reception.

Potential zooming in shots in order:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBAeOTHtZVg
(0:45-0:46 seconds)
0:04-0:05 seconds
0:39-0:40 seconds
0:06-0:07 seconds (maybe cutting it a bit from the left and zoom in so the Chamber of Reception isn’t there)

Here’s a funny youtube video about exactly this Hogwarts Castle “problem” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id5XIfhS1AQ
People can say “IT’S MAGIC” and be done with it, but what’s the fun in there! 😉 I think it’s a nice challenge and a personal touch if you can and want to do it.

I haven’t been able to see the previous Harry Potter fanedits but I’m looking forward to watch and enjoy them!

Edit: For far more detailed information about where the deleted scenes fit in the story (and which scenes where originally filmed but not put in the extended edition on blu ray) I highly recommend these links:

http://www.hogwartsprofessor.com/crimes-of-grindelwald-deleted-scenes-2/
http://www.hogwartsprofessor.com/crimes-of-grindelwald-leta-ballroom-and-the-mystery-of-the-missing-baby/

It’s fascinating to discover how much material isn’t in the movie; deleted scenes that actors mention in their junket interviews before and after the premiere, scenes we saw in the movie trailers that are not in the released version, and notes in the final script that was published.

The problems most people have with this movie are easy to hang on J.K. Rowling but I think David Yates and all the editing are much more of a problem. It could have been a much better movie if more if not all the original script material would have been put in the film. I hope the delayed release of Fantastic Beasts 3 (November 21, 2021 instead of November 2020) is a blessing so everything will be planned better for the arc of film 3-5.

Hi JJPotter, any update on The Crimes of Grindelwald?

Author

I have a draft completed and I’m having someone do a viewing for me to see if any changes need to be made. I’ve looked at the featurettes on the blu-ray and see a lot more scenes were shot at the beginning with Credence that is making me consider working those in as well. It isn’t a finished project at this point.
