Harrison Ford turned down $47 million to star in a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie.

Harrison Ford
(BANG) - Harrison Ford turned down a $47 million pay day to make a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie.

Hollywood legend Ford, 64, snubbed director George Lucas' big bucks offer in favour of playing heroic archaeologist Indiana Jones again.

However, Lucas wasn't too disappointed with Ford's decision as he was already developing an idea for a fourth Indiana Jones movie with Steven Spielberg.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "George wanted Harrison to play Indy but cleverly sounded him out about playing Hans Solo instead.

"Harrison was horrified. After that he was delighted to be playing Indy again. He told George he just couldn't face being stuck in a spaceship with Chewbacca again."

Ford will earn $47 million for donning his famous fedora hat once again and embarking on a final adventure as the whip-cracking adventurer.

Ford and Lucas announced they were making a fourth 'Indiana Jones' film earlier this month.

The movie, produced by Lucas and directed by Spielberg, is due to be released in 2008, 19 years after Ford last appeared as thrill-seeking Indy in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.

What the hell? Where did this come from? Smells like complete bullshit to me, not the least because of the impossible and improbable report itself.

This indeed sounds like a load of rubbish from one of the UK's most untrustworthy tabloids. Though I don't think sexuality has anything to do with it Cable-X1.

I don't know about this latest report (particularly the Star Wars spin-off), but Harrison Ford has stated many times that he would not consider playing Han Solo ever again. I actually saw him say it in a TV interview (Barbra Walters I think). In that same interview he then expressed interest in doing another Indiana movie.

Of course you have to take articles like this with a HUGE grain of salt, but it is always fun to read how Lucas could ruin the series even more.

This was on Oprah, I believe. He said he would never want to play the role again cuz there's nothing really there for him as an actor, but he did say that if George needed him, he would do it.

But he was pretty adamant about wanting to do another Indiana Jones movie in that same interview.

This was way back in the late 90s when he came out as a draft dodger and was sporting an earring. Some kind of image makeover to revive his shrinking career at that point.

Though I don't think sexuality has anything to do with it Cable-X1.

Wrong....it has to do with EVERYTHING!!!

I once posted a thread with a link to a whole bunch of Harrison Ford interviews. Right here. I went to the site and, an Oprah interview has been added. I only watched the first few minutes, it seems to be the one your talking about.

Where is your time machine? I'd like to borrow it for a few days.

It's on the European format I suppose, day/month/year
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Ya know, this article has been published on many mainstream news websites. This is not a BS fanboy creation, it appears to be legit. The only thing that makes my mind scramble is what Lucas' intention was to use an older han solo for? Is he actually planning a sequel story of sorts for his tv show? Very strange that he would see if harrison was willing to do Han again, especially when there are no known plans to do anything with the star wars story post-ROTJ from Lucas' head.

Its not legit just because it got picked up by other entertainment sites, because the source cited in the original article itself is illigit.

I found this at TFN talking about the whole story of Harrison Ford & the Han Solo character:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Updated! : We've just gotten word through very reliable sources that this was in fact a fabricated story or misunderstanding at the Daily Star. Make no mistake that Harrison Ford is indeed going to be filming Indy 4. However, the Star Wars spin off portion was inaccurate.

I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. If it was just for a episode or two of the tv show then he turned down easy money. It can't take so long to film a tv show episode.

I don't think it would be his time so much as his lack of desire to play the role. He's established (and probably wealthy) enough to pick and choose his roles. If he doesn't want to play Han Solo anymore, he sure as hell doesn't have to.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Well, if they are bringing back the original characters I think that means that seeing luke in action again is a sure thing. Since he also has a love for the series. I guess they can just write Han out. Kill him off or something, cause he can't live forever anyway.

I can see it now.

Harrison(on the phone with Lucas): I don't want to play Han again.

Lucas: What if I kill him off like you wanted.

Harrison: Listen, I'm starting to finally get that character off my ba...(George interrupts)

Lucas: I'll kill him off in the first five minutes.

Harrison: Fine, you talked me into it.

Harrison shoots the death scene. Afterwards, Lucas put's him in front of a green screen.

Harrison: What's this?

Lucas: Oh, the entire series is flashbacks of Han Solo as told by Chewbacca.

Harrison: What? I didn't sign on for this.

Lucas: Actually you did. *shows him contract and, it's in there in fine print*

Harrison: Then where's my script for these scenes?

Lucas: Oh, I've done away with scripts. It's all digital now. *shows Harrison Telepromter*

Harrison thinks what did he get himself into....

Harrison: Wait, who's playing the other parts?

Lucas: I haven't started casting yet. Just act.

... I couldn't resist typing that.

Easy... Han is really just Jar Jar in costume. Fans will love it when they see the CGI Han morph into Jar Jar... then Luke can begin his adventures with the Gungans and the midichlorians. If we're really lucky, we'll get to see some really cool Sith lord lop off Jar Jar's head. Nah, that would be silly.
