Man, that must have been frustrating after 12 hours of encoding for it not to work. Glad to hear you know a way around it. Are you using a different process for encoding than you did for the PDE?

Well, I was hoping to encode an AVCHD straight from the source files but for some reason I just can't get that to work. So I'm going to encode a high bitrate MP4 and then use RipBot or multiAVCHD 2pass HQ conversion to make the AVCHD. The 2pass encoding is gonna take a really long time though.
Yeah, I know most (if not all) programs don't seem to have full AVCHD support yet. At least that's been my experience. I mostly use Final Cut to do my editing and even though it can't import AVCHD natively, you can sometimes import it by transcoding but even that is hit or miss. Then when I export I need to go to an intermediate codec like Apple Pro Res before then converting to AVCHD. Definitely a long process! I feel your pain :-)

Well, the test encode didn't go so well, it took almost 12 hrs and it doesn't work in anything else than VLC but I know how to get around it, only it will take like two days to encode. Also, I skimmed through it and found a few more things I want to fix, so the release is more likely to be sometime next week.
It will be worth the wait Harmy.
Check out the power generator explosion--in the original it has bright orange flames; in the SE it is nearly black and white for some reason. Did you do anything about this?
Well, do you mean this one? :-)
i think he is refering to the shot before that. It's the first shot of the generators being blown up.

Oh, I assumed he meant the one in the picture because that one was almost B&W in the 2004SE and there isn't much colour in the shot before in the GOUT either.

I tried, but I'm not sure how well it worked out, you'll have to judge for yourself when it's done :-)

I wholeheartedly agree, Thank you for all you do.
Wow, thanks, guys. And especially DJ, because I think the exact same comment could go to you and your efforts :-)
Thanks Harmy, that was the shot I was referring to. Looks much better than the '04, which has nearly no colour at all.
I don't really know what the shot before that is supposed to look like--if I remember correctly it's pretty much a bright white in both versions.
Yeah, it does have a bit more colour in the original but it's definitely no huge difference. BTW. h_h I sent you a message yesterday.
Also, I just finished exporting from the editor and watched it end to end in one go and I must say that not only am I satisfied with the result, I fucking love it!!! Don't remember the last time I enjoyed Empire this much.
LINX PLEAZ!!!! I am drooling in anticipation.

I didn't even start the encoding the AVCHD yet and that will take a loooong time, so if everything goes well, I should be uploading at the weekend.

Im soooooooo looking forward to this.
OK, I just finished encoding and everything seems to work fine. Thanks to hairy_hen I've got his 5.1 mix and a 2.0 1993 mix at 320Kbps. I also added a low bitrate Czech dubbing as usual but the file encoded a bit smaller than I thought it would, so there's still space for at least one more sound mix depending on the bitrate. Could anyone help me get some?
What about the mono mix you used on the PDE?
That was only STAR WARS, I need another soundmix for Empire, perhaps the theatrical stereo. 256Kbps would be ideal.

If you can live with 224Kbps, there's a theatrical mix on my "Rebellion" set. I just uploaded the AC3 for Lee Thorogood and would be happy to forward you the link.
If it's for 23,976fps and not 24fps, I'd be extatic to get it, thanks :-)
To my knowledge, it should be synched to GOUT at 23.976 fps. At least, I sure do hope so. I was planning to recycle these sound mixes for my own 720p project and really don't want to redo the audio again :/
PM sent.
