Well I'm extremely excited...ESB 2.0 is probably the one movie I'm looking forward to most this year!..other than possibly ESB 2.5!

*starts chant* HARMY! HARMY! HARMY! HARMY!

Think Harmy addressed this, but the consensus I believe was that the THX shots were overly pink.

EDIT: Doi. You meant what's in the comments.

Surely taking the pink out is easier than upscaling

The problem with the shots in the WOW reel is that most of them are incomplete.

I was hoping an HD emperor hologram or DS explosion might be usable, but yeah a lot of the shots are very truncated.

Yeah - and it doesn't seem to be actually HD, or at least so compressed, that the extra detail just isn't there.

I think it is HD, but from a much worse source than other HD sources.  Like scans of a spliced-together projection print (which would result in quality around the level of -1's project, which I think it does).  The Sebastian Shaw ghost looks better than what we've got right now IMO, but like you said earlier, it's not enough frames for anything useful.  Oh well.

The takeoff of the ships from Yavin looks to be the full shot, and it looks better then the sources we currently have for that shot.

It's not. The THX people responded and said it was upconverted.

Wow, some of those Indy shots look nice for an upconversion.  Oh well.

will the original 1980 1.0 audio mix be in this one

If it is an upconversion it is from an HD or close to it source, no way it is SD but at some point it was interlaced

There was no theatrical mono mix for this film (35mm stereo and 70mm surround were the two variants).  However, there was an odd mono mix that existed, perhaps for television or some other post-theatrical distribution, that's on Puggo Strikes Back.  AFAIK that ESB mono mix hasn't been synced to match this source (yet).

I had contacted Puggo for the original captures to make a GOUT sync but after some initial chit chat, I never heard back.

Then I got busy with school and work and kinda let it go. If there's an interest I'd like to take another stab at it.

Considering the alternate dialogue in the mono track, I can't imagine there's no interest in a place like this ;)

What's the bitrate of the mono track on Puggo Strikes Back?

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I have the rip at home and can check when I get back (I started syncing it using the dvd audio but didn't feel like doing all the work on the compressed file and wait for the original captures). It wasn't very high if I remember.

maybe you could send it off to harmy once you are done and he will do the rest of the syncing

The sound goes in and out of sync pretty easily so it's not a cut and dry sync job. I don't mind doing the work and giving it to Harmy to mux in his project but I don't feel like doing all the work on a compressed AC3 file.

I PM'd Puggo to see if he still has the uncompressed (or losslessly-compressed) audio lying around.

An alternative (possibly easier) option might be to sync the PSB video to GOUT-TESB in VirtualDub, inserting blank frames and deleting frames wherever appropriate.

Then all you need to do is turn on "Full Audio Processing Mode" when doing the render and you're all-set!
