Thanks, Chewtobacca, I'm glad you liked it and I hope others will enjoy it too. I know there is a few shortcomings, I was actually trying to do the Bantha herd thing differently but then it wouldn't fit the original sound. Concerning the band scene, there is only one shot of Oola that I replaced, right at the begining. I replaced the upper one with the lower one:

As you can see, she's in virtually the same position in the room in both of those shots. All the rest of the scene is taken directly from GOUT, so if there are any inconsistencies, they were already there in the original cut.

I did make some inconsistencies in the ending celebration but I think they are not very noticable and they were a necesary sacrifice if I didn't want to put in anymore GOUT footage.

I probably won't be doing another version any time soon as I am quite satisfied with the result myself and so now I have a good version to watch and show to my friends. Maybe for the 20th anniversary I'll do a STAR WARS TRILOGY: PARTLY DESPECIALIZED EDITION: SPECIAL EDITION :-D

I just finished watching STAR WARS v2.1 and not only it's encoded OK but it's also awesome, there's a version of the original SW I can live with until the OOT comes out on Blu-Ray (if ever). Also the sound exeperience was great with the hairy_hen's 70mm reconstruction. I already started uploading but as usual it will take a few days.

Could you crossfade the two tracks in some way?  The Bantha herd cut really did stand out.

Fair enough!  It has been a long time since I saw the GOUT, so that might well be the case.  I have been waiting for dark_jedi's encodings before I see it again, as I do not want to spoil the experience.  :-)

I am glad your version of A New Hope is nearing release.  It was only ROTJ that I personally was interested in, as for Star Wars itself I watch G-Force if I want the original and ANH:R if I want an SE; and for ESB I watch Adywan's theatrical reconstuction if I want the original and his 1997 reconstruction if I want an SE; so I shall wish you luck from now on.  (I will always try to help if you have any technical problems though.) Good luck! :-)

I used the 2.0 soundtrack from 2006 BONUS DVD (GOUT) and adjusted and trimmed Adywan's AVCHD to fit to it, so I virtually recreated the theatrical cut. Then I also replaced some of the most glaring CGI and other offending changes with the GOUT. Han, ofcourse, shoots Greedo in cold blood.

Version 2.1 improves on the first version in several aspects: It is a 23.976 AVCHD, there are no more framerate issues, the upscale of the GOUT footage is superior, there is more different soundmixes available in this version and it contains English subtitles.

Sounds cool.  How does the 5.1 upmix sound?

I only had an opportunity to watch it with a 2.1 set so I can't really tell you about the rear chanels and stuff but it sounded awesome to me (I'm no sound expert though).

I'm starting work on Empire v2.0. I wanted to give Vegas another shot with this but it doesn't recognise m2ts as video and it keeps crashing on me whenever I atempt doing something more complicated in it so I'll probably stick to Power Director :-(

I'm currently removing the pulldown on Ady's reconstruction DVD.

Are there any alternate sound mixes available for TESB?

I put it together for fun, the technical execution isn't great but it is the idea that counts ;-)

Hey that's pretty good Harmy.

Not sure if it's a problem at my end or not but some of the sounds in your trailer seem a bit out of sync with the video.

Yeah, I just put that together quickly and the out of sync sound is just one of the issues there, but like I said, it's just for fun.

BTW: I'm planning to reinstal my system soon and I won't be starting work on Empire before that.

It's cool. I thought it looked pretty damn good anyway.

It's ok dude, take your time. No need to rush anything. We eagerly await. :P

I grabbed the ROTJ AVCHD.  I applied the audio fix and burned to a DL DVD.  The picture is bright, detailed, and crisp.  TOP NOTCH in my book, Harmy!

However, the audio was a problem.  Track 1 was really quiet, while Track 2 nearly blew my speakers, scared the hell outta me, and was distorted.  I got a giggle out of the Czech audio track, which sounded nice and clear.

I don't know, the volumes of the tracks are kept as they were in the sources (HD Broadcast and GOUT) the Czech dub is sourced from a very old copy of a copy VHS so it doesn't seem likely it would be the best of the 3. I'm fine with the sound and won't be doing anything with it anymore (exept maybe eventually adding a different mix if I find one). Can anyone help me get the 1997 LD 5.1 audio for Jedi?

Well, it's a coaster then.  :(  I don't want to keep it around out of fear of blowing my speakers accidentally.

You can easily do it yourself, just use TS Muxer to demux the audio, use whatever software to lower/rise the volume (I'm sure you can find a free program for it) and remux again like with the fix. But I just tried it on my speakers and though the volume was pretty high, it definitely didn't seem speakers blowing to me.

Well, sorry, but I'm just not comfortable with keeping anything that can harm my equipment.  The loud, distorted audio alone makes it a non-keeper, but may hang on to the disc until Ady's or a fix is done.  I don't have the knowhow and I'm not going to keep trying and burning coasters.  DL's are a bit too pricey for that.

On a positive note though, the first audio track, while too low, is good once I practically max out my volume, and the picture quality is excellent.

See, so if you're ok with the 1st track, you can just remove the second one - you'd do it the same way as when applying the audiofix, just uncheck the 2nd audiotrack in the process :-)

I have already deleted the files.  Besides, that would take yet another DL disc.

*EDIT*

I went ahead and went through all the steps and removed the loud English track 2.  The PQ is too good to trash the whole project altogether.  :)

Harmy,

Finally got ROTJ burned and I'm very excited to watch it.  Your guide to doing the audio fix worked perfect.

I just flicked through several spots and I really like how it looks and sounds.  Obviously the GOUT footage stands out but it's not as bad as I feared and I expect that this will become my favorite version to watch.

I thought the volume level on the 5.1 track was just fine.  The 2.0 track was a little louder than I would have liked but it didn't approach speaker blow out or anything.

Thanks for putting this together!
