Harmy. This version is absolutely excellent. Thank you very much for letting us all share in your hard work. All the very best to you. Long live the Original Trilogy!

I saw a lot of posts in the last couple pages about slowness at Myspleen, but I'm getting 740ish kB/s so it seems to have picked up.

Only an hour left! :)

I just made the torrent FREELEECH on MySpleen so you guys don't kill your ratios. ;)

Thanks Harmy!!!

LOL, walkingdork is a nicer admin than I'd be :)

I think this is worth some freeleech, don't you? :D

LOL yeah. But on the last wave, I invited a few people who then promptly got what they wanted and disappeared. For me, this feels like some kind of moral failing

I have just finished watching this and I've gotta say...WOW.

This is incredible work. I haven't experienced SW's like this since seeing it on the big screen back in the 70's. Everything looks so rich, vibrant and fresh...I felt like a little kid once again, I was just gawping at the screen, laughing and pointing out things to my wife, who.. humours me whenever I watch these movies.

I'll be seeding this on MS for a long time.

Roll on TESB and ROTJ!

Finally got it, and am seeding as much as my computer is able, which sadly isn't very fast. My ratio is only 0.25. (I had an impossible time seeding my LOTR fan edits a few years ago.)

Anyway, the project looks great. The colors seem so different than I've ever seen Star Wars, and the old footage is blended nearly seamlessly with the new. It has to be the best presentation of Star Wars in many years. It's interesting that some color tendencies (such as the bluish Death Star interior) were more similar to the official release than version 1.0, per the technicolor prints. The lightsabers were my only real disappointment from the first version, and so this feels very satisfying.

Tremendous work!

My stance on revising fan edits.

FYI If anybody is looking for non-torrent downloads, I have this all available on Mediafire.  Please head over to teh for the links!

Enjoy!

And thanks to Harmy for such a wonderful product!

This will be a day long remembered.

Thanks to Harmy and everyone else involved in making this available.

I saw on MS that the total size is 15gb+. Is it recommended to burn this to a DVD5? I could remove the foreign language tracks to eliminate some of the compression. I might actually have a blank DVD9 somewhere. Or should I just wait for the proper release? Thanks.

I do not fear the Dark Side as you do.

The video stream alone is 12.7GB (and with good reason), so no DVD-R is going to hold this.

At a push you might convert the MKV to a BD folder using TSMuxer, then use BDRebuilder to 'shrink' it to DVD-9 size. It's a clumsy way to do it, though - better to wait for the official AVCHD release (since that smaller version will be directly encoded from source).

I'm having fun trying to get Adobe Encore to import the video stream without crashing. I'm not sure the designers of this software even considered feature film file sizes when they put it together...

Sith, Harmy said the AVCHD would be released about a week after the mkv, so if you want to burn to a dvd9, you should just wait for that.

@ SithTrooper: I'm assuming you mean converting it to SD DVD, well, I certainly wouldn't recommend doing anything of the sort but it's up to you of course. If it was up to me, there would be no SD release at all but you've got to give the masses what they want ;-) And I'm leaving the SD DVD to Chewtobacca, because that way I know it will be top quality for what it is.

@ Hall 9000:

Well, the colours may seem similar to the SE, but only until you actually compare them side by side:

On x264bluray.com they say that Adobe Encore CS5 has issues with BD compatible streams if --open-gop is enabled, which it is in this case. I don't know if this applies to all versions of the software or if they fixed it, but as we're talking about Adobe here, the issue is probably still present.

I still want to do a few more test encodes for the upcoming AVCHD release. I'll then send the settings to Harmy in a few days and also post some comparison screens between Source, BD/MKV and AVCHD.

Sounds good, I'll just wait. I did not realize that a AVCHD version would be available so quickly.

A standard DVD is my only option at this point. I do have a stand alone BD player, but only a DVD-DL burner in the PC.

Thanks for the info and quick responses.

Oh, and those screen shots are stunning!

Well, you need to add a few more days for the encode to be done, uploading also takes some time etc. Plus I don't know if Harmy wants to start encoding right away.

Thank you, Harmy, and happy birthday.

Thanks, also, to everyone else involved.

Now, does anyone know if I should download this from usenet, would I be able to return to myspleen and help seed? That is, will the two versions match?

For the usenet upload the rar files have simply been renamed from Deed2.0 to Fixed_Deed2.0. The par2 files however are different, so you'd need to redownload them at myspleen.

Besides, 28% (50 files) have been uploaded to usenet so far, with approximately 1.5 days to go. So I guess downloading it from my spleen would be faster anyway.

Since I don't do torrents anymore, I gotta ask; why is usenet taking so much longer to upload, too? I'm not in a hurry, just curious

Here are some more comparisons between v1.0 and Remastered.

so I also uploaded a folder with all the pictures in their original form (high quality Jpeg):

I recommend watching it as a fullscreen presentation in both cases.

It's not just the colors but it looks much more filmlike with a layer of healthy grain and much more detail.

Seems very promising indeed.

Well I sent a PM to Harmy but he said it should be posted on this thread, so here's the PM I sent:

Hi again, Harmy, I'm sending a PM because you said you prefer reporting errors through PM...

I have downloaded DeEd 2.0 from Myspleen, and it seems it isn't corrupted... except at the very start of the movie (around 0:00:20), when "A LucasFilm production" fades to black and "A long time ago" should appear. Sometimes it even crashes the video player! I have tested it on Mplayer2 and VLC and both have this problem.

It seems the rest of the movie is right, but I will check it this weekend; I'm going to have a Star Wars marathon with my friends =) (the Despecialized OT, of course... we won't see the crap that is called the Prequel Trilogy). So I will confirm it in a few days.

Thanks Harmy and all who contributed!  It's amazing what you've been able to do.

I loved v.1 and am looking forward to v.2 (especially the lightsaber improvements).

It's definitely there for me between 00:21 - 00:26, although I did not grab from MS.

For me, the myspleen copy works 100%.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

There's no such error on my end either. I  tried it in MPC, VLC and WMP and it plays without problems in all three.

Because my ISP offers me an upload speed of only 1MBit/s, that's why. But it's at 55% now and should be finished in 24hours.
