Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 674

For my ‘Yub Nub’ version of my ROTJ project, there are two entire scenes sourced from 4K83. I found that gradually fading in some film grain and/or gradually fading it out afterward to be useful. They’re just too different. However, if I were ducking between sources very often I imagine a layer of new grain over all UHD footage would be necessary.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Well, as this is Despecialized, we’re frequently talking about 4K77 and UHD footage on different parts of the exact same frame.

Frankly I’m not sure that’s the best approach anymore outside of a few very specific instances. Unless you’re really trying to “clean up” effects shots, including getting rid of grain and dirt that’s baked into the negative due to compositing and removing matte lines or particularly stubborn garbage mattes.

This is all looking really awesome to me. Great work, DrDre!

Hi everyone, I hate to ask but is there a known files that groups together all the audio files for download. I don’t have the BD I burned of this to hand but I wanted to mix multiple versions of the audio to 4k77 and I’m hoping I don’t have to download the 30gb DS edition again!

Thanks!
Michael

I have a lot of the dubs, can you be more specific about which tracks you want?

Hi CatBus, thanks for the reply 😃 I managed to find Harmy’s on usenet and amazingly it downloaded over night so I ripped the audio (I was after the commentary tracks to mix into 4k77) and all is good. I’m currently trying to find the no-DNR version of 4k77 but the nzb files I searched for on a.b.starwars were broken and the files won’t unzip after downloading, gutted. I’ll head over to the other forum and see if I’m missing anything. Thanks again for replying!

I can’t believe it guys,

I was just prepared to download the 2.7 and here I just know a 3.0 is in preparation!

I can’t wait enough for it!

As soon i’ve time, I’ll make a little donation. You deserve it for sure!

The only thing i would ask, it could be possible to have the Lagarith (or Huff or any) lossless version to download too?

Thank you and good work!

Can we get an update on this?

I can’t speak for the video, but there’ll be a Cantonese dub available for Hong Kong fans. And possibly a Romanian bootleg voiceover a la Chuck Norris vs Communism.

Obligatory observation that these screenshots are of color-corrected special editions. They will be despecialized.

I really enjoyed the conversation with HelloGreedo and Harmy. It really got me re-energized for what will likely be the ultimate way to watch the film when it’s finished.

Thank you Harmy and DrDre for your hard work!

Hi folks,

I’m trying to hunt up the various parts of the SW_AVCHD v2.5 archive. So far I seem to have found 32 parts of them?

(a) how many 102mb part files are there?
(b) can someone point me please to a reliable place to find them all?

Thanks!

Sorry, newbie, didn’t hit the Notify button.

I’m seeing 37 parts, is that correct?

The links I see in older posts (such as to uloz) no longer find files with the same names. Any help finding these last five parts would be welcome!

Thanks.

The latest version of SW Despecialized is v2.7; the consensus seems to be that this has better colours than v2.5. Check the first post of this thread for a link to “The Ultimate Introductory Guide” which describes how it may be acquired.

Hey folks.

This is probably the dumbest question you ever had to field and I think I already know the answer, but I don’t want to plough on ahead and do it only to discover I really did need them.

After you have extracted all the files and made the .mkv file of the respective despecialised version of the movie you are working with, must you hold onto the .rar files or is it safe to delete them? I’ve been holding onto them, but my gut says they are no longer needed and are now just hogging space on my HD. So can I delete the .rars and just hold onto the .mkv files?

Cheers the help.

Yes, the RARs can be deleted if you are short of space on your hard disk. They are simply a convenient way of acquiring the movies but are not needed at all for playback.
