Can you use a virgin goat to save a step?
No. They must remain separate to download the mkv version. However, if you only want the AVCHD version then a virgin goat will do just fine.

Okay, I’m having serious trouble. So I am on http://tehparadox.com/forum/f89/harmys-star-wars-trilogy-despecialized-2543089/ trying to get the V2.5 AVCHD NFO files to jdownloader. But every time I try to copy and paste the files, nothing happens. What am I supposed to do?

So I’m watching the despecialized trilogy as a prelude to TFA this month. I was watching Star Wars tonight and a thought occurred to me. I vaguely remember seeing something about the edits made to the SE that mentioned a lot of the actual pyrotechnic explosions on the actors in the various shootouts on the Death Star were cut out. I remember it being that they wouldn’t cut the whole shot, but just snip the few frames that actually showed the blast.
Watching the DE it appears that, if these frames really were cut, they’ve been added back (thank goodness!). I’m just curious what source was used for this b/c it blends seamlessly as far as I could see.

Her only complaint was the lack of female characters. I quote:

Yeah, these films certainly fail any reasonable test of gender equality–but Leia was a refreshing breath of fresh air compared with your typical “damsel in distress” character common at the time. “Good for its time” is faint praise, but it’s better than nothing.
I finally got around to watching this version of Star Wars this weekend with a bunch of friends, and all i can say is a big Thank You to Harmy and all others who worked on pieces of this. It is amazing!

In all fairness, her death was unrelated to the cabbage. Unless she offered some to the stormtroopers off screen…

I had no issue at all using Disk Utility for the AVCHDs, but I made my own ISOs from the BDMV folders by running imgburn with a wineskin (I couldn’t burn straight from imgburn because it couldn’t find my disc drive). I wasn’t aware there were premade ISOs out there. Maybe there’s something wrong with those particular files? If not, I’ve got nothing.

Why has the line “Close the blast doors!” been cut from the scene where the storm troopers are chasing Han and Chewie? I believe the line was in the theatrical version and was only cut from the original VHS release.
Plus, it’s one of my favorite lines in the movie. 😛

Wrong thread, really. Star Wars premiered with three distinct audio mixes, depending on where you saw it. Two audio mixes did not have “Close the blast doors!” and one did. Harmy chose the 1977 six-channel theatrical mix as the default track because (more or less) it sounds great and is authentic too. The 1977 mono mix, the one with the line you like, is another favorite around here, and it’s available as an alternate track. VHS never had the 1977 mono mix, but in 1985, they created yet another stereo mix which tried to merge the elements of the theatrical mono and multichannel mixes, and used that for home video (prior to 1985, the home video mix was the 1977 stereo mix). And then they had another go at it and made a fifth distinct audio mix in 1993, this time incorporating entirely non-theatrical elements. Star Wars was a mess of versions long before 1997, and that’s not even including the fact that they changed the name of the film itself in 1981…
