Can someone recreate the deleted Jabba Scene? from "a new hope" with? the actor Declan Mulholland in HD? The available version of a reconstruction is bad because you can see the stencils and the quality differences of the sources, also a color correction is missing.

And I also want to see the final version from 1997 in HD, with and without original cinema subtitles. If someone needs some source, I have a DVD Transfer from a 1997 German Laserdisc, with original German cinema subtitles.

And color correction & picture cleaning of the official Blu Ray deleted scenes would also be nice.

It's been attempted, but there's not enough source material to do it 100%. The most that can be done still has a few seconds of CGI Jabba. It wouldn't suffice in a proper edit.

I've heard about a Japanese Laserdisc that has the original version of the scene, though I don't know if it would be enough to do what you're asking.

My stance on revising fan edits.

The Japanese Laserdisc is from the documentary "from Star Wars to Jedi" which is also available on VHS in the US and UK, but just contains the half scene in 4:4 aspect ration. And the sound is also not complete, Mark Hamil, as the main narrator, is talking about the scene while it is showing.

Plus it has nothing to do with this project.

Nothing to do with the project? Why not creating a Bonus-Disc with deleted scenes, like there is mostly one to every movie?

Here's an idea: Do it yourself and then you can share it with us.

Did you even understand Harmy's goal? People posting in this thread are AGAINST the SEs. I know there are projects dedicated to the SEs, please go post there as here it is about REMOVING EVERYTHING Lucas changed after the 1977 release. The Jabba scene doesn't belong in it, either with the actor or the CGI Jabba even if it was originally shot with the actor.

"Let's face it, the Ewoks sucked, dude" -Hurley, Lost 5x13-Some like it Hoth.

Please bear with me if I tend to get too excited about anything or say too much, I have issues.

The best reply ever? Possibly!

If you were making a traditional "Deleted Scenes" collection for the 1977 George Lucas film Star Wars, the Declan Mulholland as Jabba scene would certainly be appropriate. It was shot along with the rest of the film, intended to be part of the film, and then excised from the film before release. That's the definition of a deleted scene, so it should definitely be included on a separate Bonus Disc, as skywalker09 suggested.

Thanks to those who stand by my idea! But I have no material to reconstruct the Jabba scene, only a DVD-Transfer of the 1997 German Laserdisc, the bad reconstruction in the youtube version, the official DVD and Blu Ray and the UK VHS "From Star Wars to Jedi".

If someone could send me all existing material from the scene with Declan Mulholland, in the best available quality, that would be great.

I would try to made a better reconstruction with the apple program "Final Cut Pro 7", but first someone have to send me the material.

I would try to make it like Harmy described how he made his reconstruction in this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHfLX_TMduY

And still, it has NOTHING to do with THIS project. Go and create a separate thread.

Nothing? IMO bonus disc with 1977 SW deleted scenes has SOMETHING to do with this project... It's slightly offtopic, yes, but come on guys. What's with the hostility? Don't tell me it's about "spam", this thread already has fuckin ten thousand posts, what difference does this make?

1977 Jabba scene on a bonus disc made specifically for DeEd? I would absolutely download it.

Because it's a thread about Harmy's Despecialized Edition, not supplements? This is off-topic.

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

“You don't do ‘Star Wars’ in Dobly.”

Yes, these kinds of supplements, while they may go well with any theatrical version (or approximation of such) are just generic SW supplements and aren't DeEd specific or even connected to the DeEd as a project. In other words, they have about as much to do with the DeEd as for example Star Wars Begins does - someone could definitelly use SWB as a bonus disc to go with the DeEd, but it is its own separate project, just like cleaning up/reconstructing deleted scenes would be and should therefore be discussed elsewhere.

I want to hit 400 pages on this thread as much as the next guy, but discussing despecializing deleted scenes is not the proper way to get there.  Let's make these last few pages count!

Well, apparently, Encore doesn't support adding more than 8 audio tracks, so I'm gonna have to use something else to author the BD - I think I'll try MultiAVCHD but I find it a bit confusing.

Can we discuss ideas for the Prequel Revisited project here while we're at it?

Oh, and I'm always here all week.

There are some decent multiAVCHD guides on the web, FWIW.

Because he really wants that bonus disc. Duh.

I'm still sticking to Encore for the Blu-ray, but on the other hand we're filling the disc to the brim with bonus material, so there's no room left for more audio tracks anyway.

Still, IF you find a decent way to create both custom disc and pop-up menus in MultiAVCHD, be sure to let us know.
