Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 390

BTW. I made this and decided not to use it in the end but I'm putting it out here in case anyone wants it:

Ha, looks pretty authentic. Why did you end up omitting it?

Author
Time

Also, was the one on your Jedi 1.0 authentic or re-created?  Would it be omitted in a 2.x?

It will be omitted in ROTJ to keep continuity throughout the v2.x trilogy. In v1.0 ROTJ it was also a recreation.

I decided not to use the rating card, because it would either have to be after the DeEd credits, which wouldn't make much sense, or before, which would disrupt the flow of the credits being in the same style as the SW credits.

Also, I remember some time ago, someone offered to re-create the original SW credits for me, which in the end proved unnecessary, since I ended up getting them from a 35mm source, but I think I will need the original credits re-created for ESB and ROTJ, so if anyone wants to take a crack at it, I'd be grateful :-)

I think if I recall correctly, Laserschwert did the main work/rendering and the rest of the OT.com community provided anal-retentive copy editing and color commentary.

Yeah, that's why I'm already asking now, so that there's time for proper anal retentive QC :-)

Since I'm gonna need the credits for TESB and ROTJ anyway (unlike SW the German versions of those still had the English credits), I can recreate them. If someone has proper captures of the VHS releases to use as templates ;)

Just out of curiosity, can you make one for other ratings, including the defunct ones?

Where were you in '77?

Author

Well, I guess I could, but it was a lot of work, so only if I knew it was for some worthy project. Also, what do you mean defunct? Isn't this one defunct as well?

@Laserschwert: That would be great, thank you!

PG is still around, but these two aren't. ;)

I used the X card on a project way back in college as a fake out gag. Got it off a VHS rental of Flesh Gordon,  which had been reclassified R in the mid 80's. (The video master inadvertently used a film print with the original card intact.) Haven't been able to find another source for it since...

Well, the GP was fairly easy (though, it's probably not perfect, since it's pretty hard with a blurry reference like that) but the X one I could probably try to approximate but it would probably be far from what it actually looked like with this picture as a reference - I can't even read the text (if I had to guess, I'd say it says: "NO ONE UNDER 17 ADMITTED / AGE LIMIT MAY VARY IN CERTAIN AREAS" but I'm just guessing).

The X one says, "This film has been rated X. No one under 17 admitted. Age limit may vary in certain areas. "

GOUT isn't good enough?

EDIT: You mean German credits, right. Okay, following now.

Actually I'm not even sure if there are German credits for TESB and ROTJ... but yeah, for the English version the GOUTs will do. Can anybody upload the credits of both of them?

New poster, longtime reader. Just wanted to say magnificent work, Harmy! Been enjoying your work for some time now. A big thanks from an admirer.

Do you have any plans to include the '81 version of the opening crawl with "Episode IV: A New Hope" as an alternate option for the BluRay?

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Author

Not really, no. It's going to be quite difficult as it is to master the BD without trying to make it a seamless branching disc.

That's cool, just wondered what your plans were.

Will you be using any more Team Negative1 35mm footage for v2.5 or is the next version be essentially a polish/official package of the current release?

ALLOL

Do you have any plans to maybe put the Episode 4 ANH crawl in there too? :P

Hey guys, newbie here.

It is amazing how things work in this world sometimes. I was just watching my 2004 SE's with my kids last weekend (after an hour long light saber battle spanning the entire house) and was complaining to my wife for the 100th time about all the garbage additions GL made to the originals. So I decided to dig out my VHS original editions and attempted to hook up the old VCR. Of course it no longer functions. So I gave up and found myself on Netflix a few hours later and came across "The People vs George Lucas" documentary and felt as if I had just reunited with a group of long lost friends. All the wonder and excitement from my childhood welled up and I started to get mad regarding the apathy he has shown to these orginal versions. After learning of these fan edits and restorations from the doc I began searching non-stop for the last few days and have continually found myself on this website among others and reading Harmy's name and praise for his editions.

I am not technologically illiterate but have never really downloaded from torrents and burned that file on to a disc before. I would love to get Harmy's trilogy and burn them so I can watch them on my HDTV in all their original glory. I guess my first step would be to ask for an invite to myspleen but after that I am at a loss as to what specific download software I might need or burning software that will work if any are even needed outside of my default programs. Do I need to burn them on Dual Layer DVD's? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

I just use Toast, but I had to *eh-hem* find it first.

Actual toast is better than what I usually get out of that app. Maybe I expected too much from it for crunching things down onto DVDs.
