If you can hold off a little longer it would probably be worth waiting for 2.5 IMHO as that will be the best version yet.

Alright, thank you for the advice! :)

My mind is going to be blown away once this is finally finished "long live despecialized edition 2.X,s"

OH!  Thank goodness.  I thought I was going to have to pay double what it's worth and have it in a format that would only play in one specific player/DVD.

Whew!

A query for Harmy regarding v2.1: I was watching your documentary about the project on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHfLX_TMduY) and I'm wondering if 2.1 contains the Team Negative1 35mm footage you mentioned. I don't see it among the list in the first post in this thread, and I haven't found a specific mention of its inclusion in the remainder of the thread (though maybe it is here and I skipped over it during one of these 389 pages).

Just a little something I'm interested in figuring out.

Yes, v2.5 only has a few very small improvements over v2.1, so the footage is already there, I just didn't edit the first post for v2.1 yet.

Ah, that's fair. Again, it looks wonderful, I was just curious.

I hate to be "that guy," so my apologies, but is there honestly a way to view this on a Mac? I've tried to find out on my own on multiple occasions in the last couple of years, and finally I decided to download it and see what I could do. So I have the image for the AVCHD/DVD9, and I can't for the life of me figure out if it's even possible to watch or burn it on a Mac. Help would be greatly appreciated.

JEDIT: Holy god, I just got it to work on VLC player. Going to watch, might need to get a new box of tissues. But, to be clear, I still have no idea how to burn this. Help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I've Googled it before. Many times. No luck. I was mainly looking to see if anyone here has burned this on a Mac and how.

I just use Toast, but I had to *eh-hem* find it first. Keep in mind, of course, you need a player that's capable of reading the AVCHD format to even make it worth your while.

+1 for Toast

or VMware.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Harmy, bless you.  These editions are incredible.  I forgot about this site back when I finally got my cowclops/tr47 discs...

Has anyone gotten them to play properly on Xbox 360 or Ps3?

I've used Mp4tools for Mac to unwrap the mkv into a m4v file.  The Xbox simply doesn't recognize it.  My Ps3 will play it (both over Media Server and as a data file burned to blu-ray), but it has occasional black outs and horizontal black glitches in the frame.

It's perfect in VLC on my laptop.

you guy may not care much about this but I have all three of the 97 SE,s on my laptop thanks to VHS converter software I have them as TS files because I tried looking for them even on myspleen and the torrents are dead and they where mostly ANH sure the color may be wrong but I say all versions should be preserved

@cain spaans start a separate thread. 97 se aren't as sought after but you may have some takers.

@Charliex look for a program called mezzmo. Has been my one stop solution for streaming. 360 is crazy picky with files not fed to it by a media server.

Preferred Saga:
1,2: Numeraljoker extended
3: L8wrtr
4,6-9: Hal9000
5: Adywan

Really what I want is a hard copy.  I have a friend who's the biggest Star Wars fan but a complete tech luddite.  I was hoping just to burn the files to a blu ray so he could watch on his Ps3.   It seems there might be too many GOP flags or something that's causing the intermittent drop outs.  I'm going to try to re-encode the avchd and see if that helps.

EDIT:  WELL KISS MY GRITS.  It was a a bad HMDI connection.  Occasionally my Ps3 would display a little snow, but usually settled down after a couple minutes. I was playing 3 hours of Last of Us non-stop without any dropouts.  Apparently the problem has gotten worse.  I think it's the HDMI connector on the TV, it's a bit loose.... I swapped it with the XBOX connection and Star Wars plays GREAT as a data file from a blu-ray.

I think I found it (thanks Frink for telling me a few days ago how to search). I'll see if it works (it's a solution using terminal and TsMuxeRGUI, correct?). Thanks very much.

And for those worrying I do have a player that can play AVCHD.

I don't see how I should start a new thread as you said the 97 SE,s aren't a big thing and I don't think anyone will be interested and right now I need a better program than what we have installed into the computer because it records a 4:3 frame around the picture luckily these are fullscreen because we would all see a rectangle box within the 4:3 aspect ratio so I might look into it but for now I don't think anyone's interested in this

If you don't think anyone is interested, then why bring it up in the first place?

I just was saying I wanted to collect all releases of the 97 SE's but if this is to happen I may not be the one to do this I don't want a color correction of these just a preservation of the VHS copy of the movies I may make another thread to see if people want to see a VHS preservation but I will have to buy the widescreen version of the movies and buy a program that records the movies but with no frame I don't expect this to be perfect

Do you think you could learn to use some full stops, and commas please? People might take your posts a little more seriously then. But this is a thread for Harmy's work, not the 97 SEs...

my method did not use a GUI or any recoding - just a straight blast of the bits onto DVD9 using a terminal window.  but maybe the other method you found is easier.  i don't make many posts so if you can search for my posts i bet it would be easy to find.  don't know how to search the forums myself, sorry!

I know it is about harmy's work but I mentioned this only because he uses some SE stuff for these movies
