Yeah, I know that would be best for such comparison course. The problem is that within the DeEd, I dare say there isn't a single frame that has the same or even similar colours, brightness and contrast as the BD. And all this adds to the perception of detail, so simply sizing a BD image down to 720p and then back to 1080p up wouldn't give you the right idea on the amount of detail in DeEd v2.0. But still, here it is; left untouched BD 1080p, right the same screenshot downscaled to 720p and then saved, closed, opened again and upscaled back to 1080p:

If I was, I would have done it when I started working on it :-) The PDE a DeEd situation was different; The DeEd originally started as a new version of PDE, where there were supposed to be only a few improvements and I only started a new thread for it when it became clear that the nature of the project has changed. DeEd V2.0 is essentially the same project with the same goals but with better technical quality. What I am considering though is to make the "official" release title of v2.0 Despecialized Edition - Remastered.

LOL :-) How about re-remastered ;-) I'd probably simply go back to 3.0 or actually, if I am ever to do another version, I'll be using 35mm HD scans for the original shots and despecializing everything including the wipes and such, so maybe I'd drop the Despecialized Edition title completely and call it something else, like say, STAR WARS The Original Theatrical Version Remastered ;-)

@bttfbrasilfan: What about them? I said it will have the same audiotracks as the MKV.

@budwhite: The aim of Ady's project is completely different, so I don't see your point at all there. I myself am immensely looking forward to watching Ady's ESB:R! I would probably be looking forward to Lucas' next Special Edition, if just out of curiosity, if he released the original in decent HD.

I think bttfbrasilfan was asking about the Portuguese mono.  The version I sent you way back was pretty poor quality (very muffled) but supposedly he's been able to clean it up a bit.  Haven't heard the new version though.

Mostly nostalgia.  Lots of people saw Star Wars for the first time, and several times after when they were still kids, thus, dubbed.  And some countries prefer dubs to subtitles regardless of age.

Also, at the moment we have no Japanese subtitles, so a dub is your only choice with that language.  And yes, I feel just sick about that ;)

EDIT: And some of us have kids of our own...

Oh, sorry, I must have lost that. Anyway, if you can get it to me within two hours bttfbf, I'll be happy to include it in the MKV and I see no problem with including it on the BD.

Most of the time I prefer to watch Star Wars in English but from time to time I like to watch it with the original Czech Dubbing I grew up with and have quite a bit of nostalgia for - may the proof of that be me spending all night about a week ago, trying to make this hissy, crackly mono VHS capture to sync with the DeEd and clean it up a bit, even though I knew nothing about audio editing and it was hell for me :-) I also want to be able to show SW to my little brother :-)

What if I want to show it to my friends and relatives who don't speak english? They like movies too, why shouldn't they be able to see it?

Dubbing isn't so bad as it is thought of in the USA, IMHO. You guys have terrific voice actors, piss poor dubbers (I've heard them). We have no voice actors (people don't even know what they are) and terrific dubbers (maybe not so much the last generation, but their fathers and grandfathers we brilliant)

Voice acting and dubbing, two distinct (if similar) arts for two different cultures. That's my tuppence worth, anyway.

@flynn: I honestly don't remember what it was like for me to see the whole film in English for the first time. I did hear the actors' voices in subtitled making ofs and stuff before I saw the whole movie in English (which I think wasn't until the 2004 DVDs). I remember listening to some George Lucas interviews and thinking it sounded really cool. It was actually probably the subconscious driving force behind my study of English :-)
