Harmy's Return of the Jedi DVD cover

I made this with my limited photoshop skills (with gimp) using adywans empire reconstruction cover by AVP as a template.

EDIT: changed it up to differentiate it more from chainsawash's version

I like it much better now.

Now I feel like an asshole.  I spent a little while working on this over the past few days.  I don't mean to steal your thunder, but I figure this is the best place to post it, so here it is.

It's not up yet, I wanted to gauge everyone's reaction from the thumbnails before I post the full version.  The only difference between the two is the first says "NTSC" on the back (for Harmy's NTSC DVD-5), and the other says "PAL"( for his PAL DVD-5 and DVD-9).

Feedback greatly appreciated.

No freakin way I just did mine cause I was bored for a couple hours. Yours is actually exactly what I wanted to do but didn't know how. now I feel like an asshole for making you feel like an asshole.

I edited the first post.

I like my new one better than my last. Its a lot simpler. which fits since i used a minimalist painting for the front cover.

These look nice, but a bick lackluster. The vectoring on the 1st one is great, but it takes too much room. Chainsaw's is closer to AvP's, but the luke vs vader pic rendered in inkblot style is a bit too busy and contrasts with the simple white background. What was great about AvP's covers was the iconoclastic simplicity.

Also anyone care to try for an atari inspired one? Since AvP used a scan of the Atari ESB game cartridge, I was hoping for someone brave enough to do the same with the one from the ROTJ game:

*EDIT*

I found these too. Couldn't get a proper scan but they seem pretty nifty. Keep in mind I resized all of these.

Well, I done just got showed up.  ;-)

I didn't realize it was inspired by the Atari cartridge - I was just going for something that matched AVP's cover.  Looks like I needn't have bothered!

That looks pretty sweet alright. I'm quite surprised on how well you managed to clean the image for hi-res. Quality-wise it looks even better than the ESB one, I think.

And for the blokes trying to create something to go along with AvP's bobba fett cover: in my opinion the trick is to find a single icon that is able to symbolize the whole movie without expressing any action directly. My suggestion for ROTJ would be a vector conversion/redesign of this:

The green lightsaber (although here it looks more it's blue). Is easily one of the most recognizable elements of ROTJ. Not only is the weapon of the Jedi, with the colour that symbolizes hope, it also brings us back to that magic moment when Luke activates his new lightsaber for the 1st time (and more recently to the missing lightsaber construction scene). It's simple, easy-to-understand, and carries a whole lotta meaning.

Jesus, dude, it was just a suggestion. It's your work in the end, so feel free to do whatever you like. No need to rush without reading other people's opinions first.

Feedback: Awesome! - do you have the links to the full versions?

PS. If you can remove "Theatrical Edition" and "Harmy's" from the cover that would be cool - Im just looking for some alternate covers for my converted aspect ratio gout jedi disc. If not no worries.

I already have the starwars trilogy VHS style covers you did too :)

Well, I have no plans to upload them anymore, as AvP has made his official companion to the Ady ESB recon cover, which is what mine was meant to be.  (I actually took his and tweaked it just a little bit further to make it match a little more, but I also won't be posting that one).

Oh, and it's not like it'd be particularly hard to get rid of the text you were talking about, as it's on either a solid white or grey background.  You could do that in Paint.

I tried to do the Revenge of the Jedi Game Cover. It is based off of AVP's cover posted above. Here is the psd file. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M4QOUZT9 I think it's a neat idea for a dvd cover
