When I want to watch a BD movie with subtitles, I usually play it though my PC and add srt subs, because most BDs have really awful subtitles, not in terms of quality but in terms of size and placement - they are usually way too big and with 2.35:1 movies the first line is usually in the picture, while the second line is in the black bar, which IMO is the worst placement of subs you can have, because it totally breaks the cinematic feel - either put them in the picture, which is the way subs would appear in the cinema and it also makes them easier to read while also watching the movie (provided they have a black boarder), or keep them in the black bar, so they don’t intrude in the image.

I believe that’s the case with the Xbox 360. If I use the built in zoom feature to watch the GOUT on my widescreen TV, it actually shifts the subtitles up to a readable level. I don’t know how many players have a zoom feature like this, however.

greetings to all here at OT.com. 1st off i want to take this opportunity to thank you all and of course harmy and everyone who has ever had anything to due with preserving these special films for us all!

with that said, i have just discovered you guys, so after all the prep work i was able to obtain harmys ds editions of sw and esb in NTSC DVD5. i prefer the NTSC DVD5 files because they work best with my limited hardware but ill take whatever i can get for rotj at this point.

and speaking of rotj ive run into a snag… after doing all the steps in jdownloader i got to the download point and hit the play button however, it comes back with an error stating “plugin error (out of date)”. so i first did a search for a fix to see if others had this same problem, but i couldnt really find a fix? so can anyone here PLEASE help with any tips.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Yup. Jdownloader 1 isn’t supported anymore so it’s out of date.

WOW WOW WOW thanks so much!!! that was an incredibly fast reply and that that instantly did the trick for me got me around the 1st hurdle!..

but now im running into a 2nd hurdle. i guess the rotj 2.0 WP is an mkv file and wont burn onto a standard dvd (side note: now this may be opening a whole other can of worms but based on the size why cant it burn onto a regular dvd?).

but i read the “read me” file and it says that it should work in my usb drive. however even though my usb drive has 14 gigs free space it wont fit for some reason? has anyone else seen this? and can someone please point me in the right direction.

It’s not a format your DVD player can recognize.

Not the right format for DVD.

FAT32 formatted drives (which your drive probably is) do not allow for files above 4 gigs.

thanks towne32. so then is it possible to just buy a different type of thumbdrive that is formatted for these type files? or perhaps “there is another”… way?

i cant thank you all enough for all the help so far! i dont think ive ever been so openly welcomed into a community when i was a “newbie”. most times i couldnt help but feel an air of superiority and pulling rank. i have felt NONE of that here! so thanks again im just really appreciative!

If the drive is big enough, you can just reformat it with your PC. This is all assuming you have a blu-ray drive or smart tv that will read the file format and drive format. There are also apparently instructions around here for splitting the mkv into smaller files.

The new logos are definitely 100% accurate to ROTJ, since they come from a 1983 35mm print and yet, the v1.0 logos, taken from GOUT, have very different spacing and fonts.

It is crazy that they are so different, I wonder if the home video intros of the other movies differ from theatrical, as well…

The 35mm Lucasfilm logo looks like the one on Caravan of Courage.

Do the older home video versions of Return of the Jedi have the theatrical logo?

I just had a few questions regarding the ROTJ workprint version… will it contain various audio tracks, specifically a DTS-HD track, like the other two editions? Also MKV chapters?

Really looking forward to it… gonna grab a day after it’s released and watch all 3 back-to-back 😃 Just got to pack the wife and kids off first!
