Half Life 2. After so many years waiting for it (you guys might want to read about it's bizarre development, a story worth of a movie itself), it's finally here. Well, at least in north america, we down here in brazil will have to wait until november 24th (but I'll get my copy at the south american Electronic Gaming Show 2004 this saturday )
So, has anyone played it already? Any coments on the game? “Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering
Didn't play it, but read the reviews. Sounds like the only complaint is that friendly AI blocks doorways and gets itself killed. Other than that, graphics, sound, weapons, storyline, play control, enemies, level design, mood...
Basically it got everything right.
I'm not a PC gamer, but when the xbox version arrives I'm all over it.
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it... How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...
I got the impression many people were disappointed with Doom 3. And HL3 just came out today. But based on reviews, HL2 is THE pc shooter and trumps anything else.
Although in the multiplayer arena, I have no idea.
Half Life 2 got the best reviews on gamespot I've ever seen (althought I have see only, like, 5 other reviews), and if it's as good as the Half Life 1 multiplayer, I'll be satisfied. Team Fortress Classic, a multiplayer Half Life mod, is in my opinion the most fun multiplayer game ever, maybe as good as Goldeneye for the N64. Surely there will be a Team Fortress for the HL2, so... Gah I can't barely wait. I've been following the development of this game since 2001, 2002, I've waited for it like SW fans have waited for the PT (but I WONT be disapointed)... and it has been delayed for so long, I remember it has been on pre-sell on amazon for almost 2 years!

played some HL-2, havent finished it yet, since my comp cant handle it, so i have to go to a PC cafe to play it, but it fucking rocks!!!!! un-fucking-believable!!!!! i can only recommend it to people!
I bought it about 2 weeks ago, on a saturday, and I had finished it by sunday, took me only 12 hours... But it's one of the greatest games I've played. Too bad it requires a directx9 complient graphic card, and mine has a mix between 7 and 8 (geforce4 mx420, bought it 2 years ago). But it looks very nice on my computer. I friend of mine bought it, and he was able to play it on a 700mhz with a 64m directx 7 graphic card and 384 ram. I'm not sure HOW he was able to do it, but...
Hey, I challenge anyone here for a match on Half Life2 Deathmatch!

RRS, I'd say HL2 has clearly won the match against D3. Simply because of the sheer variety of scenarios and situations. Although in defense of Doom3, I'd have to say I rather wanted it to be a remake of the old Doom games - so basically that's what I got in a technically brilliant fashion. My gripes with D3 are more along the likes of "does not look as good as HL2 on old computers".
Half-Life 2 looks a lot better on older computers than Doom3 and HL2DM > D3DM, imho.
