Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to go see this movie yet. Personally i found it to be one of the best movies i have seen in the past ten years realitive to my age. I have never watched a movie where the sounds of the movie surpassed the visual experience, that is something that was done in this movie. and to make that even more impressive the visual effects of the movie at the best that i have seen in the last 3 years including the LOTR movies.

I think this was an amazing movie. However, I think that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was better. And I get a lot of flak from people about that opinion, but whatever.
I think that Hero was truly amazing, but with the focus on more social elements. CTHD on the other hand was a bit more personal, and aimed at personal philosopy(Taoism, traditional Chinese religion, etc). After having some great discussions with people ive conceded that I gave both movies a perfect score. I think they are breathtaking pieces of art. In the end its a preference of subject matter, and also possibly my great respect for Chow Yun-Fat.

ill give you that one, but personally i didnt like CTHD i found it to be too dry, i ended up turing if off after 30 min. maybe i should go back and give it more of a chance.

If thats in reference to Hero, I saw the VCD about a year ago. Most people are watching it for the first time now because it hadnt had a large release in the US. I know that some shops had VCDs and VHSs occassionally, but until this theatrical release most people hadnt even heard of it.
Shimraa, I dont usually tell people that they should see movies. But I feel like CTHD is really worth the effort. There are times where it is very true to its source material. Its part of a VERY large Chinese epic, so at times its extensively narrative. But I feel like its worth it, just an opinion. And its not like I have a problem with people who havent seen this film, or dont like it...im not like that. I just think there is a lot of great stuff underneath all that narrative. Not to mention its visually breathtaking, and yo-yo ma's score is amazing.

but yeah i never heard of hero b4 it came out here, i thought it was fantastic.

The film was recently released in the states. Besides, we all love films that are near 30 years old. Are we only supposed to watch the latest things?

I just saw it yesterday, and I was astonished. The use of slow motion in the movie is just beautiful. Do yourself a favor, and go see Hero.
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

LOL, Shaolin Soccer is so rad. Man, I had the VCD wayyyy back, then saw the trailer on Apple and thought it was coming out wide-release. Then it didnt...lame. But, I still have the import DVD, and man its awesome.
If you havent seen this, but you are even remotely intrigued, you should see it. You wont be disappointed.
