I tried to go for a sunset vibe with the grading (to also imply some sort of time having passed), but perhaps a closer to night would be more appropriate and better.

If you need my feedback on that one, could you try to remove the music when Igor hugs Dumbledore at the end? That may sound impossible somehwat, but from what I’ve seen in the community over the years, it’s doable. 🙂

Of course. This is all a work-in-progress.

Everything I will need feedback on I will release to the public for feedback.

Getting this beast to flow in 5.1 surround is a challenging thing, with all the different aspects being balanced perfectly. I will need to isolate a lot more dialogue to work alongside the new ambience and sfx.

Chloe of fanedit.org will also do a preview and feedback screening before full release.

The new nighttime grading definitely works better! 👍

I can definitely extend the train sequence with a couple of seconds. I was a little bit afraid it would bore people if it got on for too long, but I’m happy it sets the mood and could be longer.

The Opening - Beta

I always hated how random and abrupt The Burrows felt in the Goblet of Fire opening. It was never even established as a location for the film. It’s just; Harry wakes up - Harry leaves. No sense of familiarity or belonging.

I also took the liberty of adding two shots from CoS that I didn’t end up using in CoS Ultimate Edition, that was perfectly fitting for what I was going for here. Had to make it coherent with the nighttime and whatnot of course, but I think it works beautifully (the bewitched pan shot and the sweater).

What I need to know is:

• Does this set the proper dark tone and keep an air of mystery and intruiging confusion?
• Does the intro work for you?
• Is Harry’s dream scary?
• Anything techincal you want to add?

Apart from some more work with the clouds in the intro (I want the WB logo to HP Title card more smoothened out as well, consider this a working placeholder) I think the opening is pretty strong. However, I’m blinded by editing eyes and need to know if something feels or looks off-putting - or if you’d like to see something, for instance in the nightmare flashback.

To keep an air of mystery in GoF we don’t want to know that Voldemort is behind this from the get-go. This will benefit the film imo.

The new opening works splendidly! The only real flaw is the colour timing as previously mentioned, but the editing is top notch. I especially like the use of the CoS score during the dream.
