most macs have an optical audio in. it's in the line in connection. you just need an adapter. just get this adapter if you already have an optical cable or a similar cable like this one.

in terms of software you can use audacity, garageband or quicktime player.

I've actually tried that optical in before...no luck in getting bit perfect.

So I could potentially do a PCM recording, it just won't be perfect.

I'd like to see what our feline friend _,,,^..^,,,_ has to offer first.  They made mention of ripping the Criterion disc already, and I do believe they can do it bit perfect.

If not, I might be able to give it a try.

Sorry, at the moment I can't use my main PC, as its video card is dead... but I will do the Criterion LD capture in a near future.

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

I am doing a bit accurate rip of the Criterion LD right now while watching the race, I will use Izotope RX II to make it 48000 from 44.1 for BD muxing but I just do not have the time to put it in sync with the 35th Anniversary BD, is anyone here interested in putting it in sync with this BD?

I'd be more than happy to sync the audio.

But you will use the 35th Anniversary BD correct? a lot of you guys here are bitching about this BD but this is what I would want in in sync with myself, so just wanting to make sure which release you will be using.

Thanks

The 35th and the previous Blu-ray should be sync'd.  In my test of the mono track from the earlier release muxed with the 35th, no re-sync seemed necessary.

Also, thanks for everyone willing to participate!

Yes i'm using the 35th Anniversary BD and your correct borisanddoris about syncing with the older bd, because i already took the audio from it and muxed with the 35th ann.

I know someone who is doing this. He has yet to rip the LD audio. The gentleman doing it is the same person who perfected the audio on a certain SUSPIRIA hybrid that is likely one of the most popular hybrids ever created. :)

Thanks DB .... this thread is starting to get a little weighted down for me.  I'll e-mail you.

I am excited about this project.  It will be nice to have a higher resolution alternative to my THX disc.

PM sent doombot, you have the 5.1 and the dolby surround (or is it just stereo?) from 99.

That stereo mix sounds great, as does the 5.1.

I think it's fair to consider that everything done in 99 is canon, and the "going back" of the last Blu-ray is the DP losing his marbles. That probably goes for the sound too. Let's preserve the 99 master, the best way to experience Halloween, ever.

The 99 THX DVD has issues in regards to the mono sound, primarily it being overly compressed DD. The Criterion laserdisc PCM blows it to pieces. It's like the 192k DD mono audio for The Terminator on DVD. It pales compared to the PCM audio on the laserdisc. Night and day.

I actually hate all the remixes for HALLOWEEN. They added some kind of weird reverb to the music so it sounds wonky.

yes, the real interest soundwise in the 99 DVD is the stereo / DS remix and the 5.1 remix. Forget the mono. Criterion it is.

OK as you know I provided DoomBot with the Halloween Criterion files to put in sync with the 35th Anniversary BD, as of yet I do not have the in sync file, so if any of you that got could you please up it to sendspace or something so I can take a listen?

Thanks
