MST3K rules indeed... have you seen the movie? Wow we got from Grindhouse into MST3K...

LOL...yes, quite the tangent to go on.

The movie was quite good.

Well, I personally think it's the greatest unintentional comedy ever made.

Yes, it's really bad. And Manos is horrible. Just horrible. But the MST3K episode is so quotable.

"You are the driver. What would you do....if this happened to you."
"SEEN IT!! I wish those hands would just push him over!"
"Oh yes, it's very scenic, just like a scene from....MANOS, THE HANDS OF FATE!!! (crying)"
"Oh my, it is...the man. I hope we don't get carted to the big house."
"Look, it's Mary Kay...K...K."
"Your puppy's compost, kid!"
"This limited-edition, suitable for framing, print is available in the lobby, along with the soundtrack to...Manos: The Hands Of Fate."

"So uh... Manos. The... hands of fate."

"Torgo, my wife... Hmnnn...."

(jazzy music ends) "This has been 'Manos', on music for the night."

"I'm guessing this is the reason this movie was made."

"Been hitting the tightmaster, Torgo?"

I could go on quoting it all day long...

I'm so pissed that the movies are going to be released separatedly... I'll just have to wait for the DVDs to come out, WHEN they come out, IF they come out, and get them... both... because, most likely, they will be released separatedly, and even if you want to rent the damn thing, you'll have to pay twice. Damn Hollywood bastards.

Didn't Rodriguez and Tarantino work together on Sin City? And wasn't that film obscenely violent, or does Frank Miller have a very warped mind?

It was all written/drawn originally by Miller, who co-directed. Rodriguez basically used the original graphic novel panels as story boards, that's why he put "shot and cut by Robert Rodriguez" in the credits. Every scene in the movie can be found as a panel in the books. So I guess, yeah, Miller's twisted.

I dunno, maybe I'm just desensitized, but I didn't think the violence in Sin City was all that bad. I mean, it was pretty intense, but it never got to a point where I would say "Oh God, I can't look!"

It seems like most of the really violent stuff happens off-camera, leaving it to the imagination (which was great, by the way).

It wasn't that bad. The blood was almost always discolored and all the violence was done in a way that kept reminding you you were basically watching a comic book with sound. I would have to say Sin City is definately an aquired taste, but the violence really isn't that bad. It's an excellent movie, and I can't wait for number 2.

Grindhouse should be fun, though it seems like a lot of time and money gone to basically just homaging/parodying exploitation films.

Well, saw it at 12pm ET this afternoon. What a freakin' movie!! (well, actually what 2 movies!!)

The overall production values are fantastic. I really like how they've distressed the film to make them look like they were made in the 70's. I originally thought that each film would be 1 hour & 10 minutes long, but they both felt longer (in a good way). Not sure what the exact running time was. The "trailers" and announcements in front of each film are a hoot and really add to the experience.

Planet Terror: Lots of crazy action, lots of blood. Rose McGowan is absolutely stunning, though I have a thing for her anyway. The pace of this one is very quick, and though I don't care for zombie films I was enthralled by this one and actually was on the edge of my seat at times.

Death Proof: Classic Tarantino - lots of dialog and characterization. Kurt Russel was cool as the antagonist and the car itself is sweet. I'd actually like to get one of those bad boys! The pace of this one is definitely slower than PT and I thought the plot was not as tight. Actually found myself saying "Why don't they just..." a few times and I felt like Russel's character lost his way a bit. Overall still a really cool film.

I'd say my favorite of the two was definitely Planet Terror, which was shown first. Both films taken as a whole were definitely a great experience. I paid $4 for a matinee and I have to say it's hard to find a good 3 hours of entertainment these days for that kind of money that will measure up to this. Tarantino has mentioned that they're looking to do more of these types of films, specifically one of the trailers they produced, turning it into a movie. I'd say I'm tremendously looking forward to it and do indeed hope they do more of these.

I hope to see it tomorrow. The Denver Post gave it 4 stars, and the Denver Post never gives anything 4 stars...so yeah, I know it must kick ass.

They actually are making a movie out of one of the fake trailers. Rodriguez is in pre-production on "Machete."

More accurately, Rodriguez has already shot 30mins of Machete.

I've managed to make it through once, but I don't think I could stomach a second viewing. Then again, I thought A Scanner Darkly was stupid as well, so maybe it's just that Philip K. Dick blows.

I only made it through once myself, and my response at the end was pretty much, "WTF?!".

In other news, apparently Rodriguez's film is better than Tarantino's, though Tarantino's is still, thankfully, good.
