Its, official, Lucas is a nut job. Greedo fires and misses. From point blank range. Up until now, fanboys could argue it was a warning shot, no doubts now.

Oh, he must have forgotten to mention in the bio that Greedo is actually blind as a motherfucker, can´t see a thing the bloody bugger!

Yep, Lucas doesn´t know who he is, where he came from or where he is. How the mighty have fallen... and gotten old and silly...

LOL

I just pray I can one day meet some loser in real life, and have them say it to me, so I can punch 'em right in the head over and over again. Damn that will feel so good.

It's coz of losers like that over at SW.com and other places around the workd, that allows shit being changed acceptable as far as LucasFilm is concerned. Where's Leonard Maltin when u need him. I'd love to hear what he has to say about this. He's one strict mofo when it comes to preserving motion pictures.

I think its candy assed of Han to 'wait' for Greedo. But I get when Georgie is a candy ass too, it makes sense.

That is not the attitude that saved Han all those times. Plus I would have shot Greedo for having an ugly mouth, always wiggling while he clicked empty threats at Han Old Buddy.

Lucas is a sad, senile old fart without the cognitive abilities to dress himself every day, so instead of insulting the poor bastard, we should pity him.

It's only a matter of time.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I cant believe thats canon now. A bounty hunter misses at point blank...talk about inefficiency. He was working for Jaba, perhaps he should have double checked his references...

Maybe they dont have a mandatory physical that would have revealed Greedo's glaring flaw - BLIND AS A "something blind"

Id say minoc (however thats spelled) but maybe they are like bats, and actually can see. Obviously StarWars.com folks cant see, or hear, or use any sort of logic - the last part is an effect that some might not think is directly related to having ones head firmly placed in GLs large ass. (But apparently...)

Not that I ever viewed Greedo as a threat (even as a child I thought he was rather wussy), but to now realize that he's that piss poor even at such short range is quite disturbing. Even a three year old with a toy gun at that range would likely be able to hit its target.

well... in greedo's defense... i think the whole star wars universe has no concept of what is and is not a "good shot."

the storm troopers couldn't hit the broad side of anything, yet obi-wan claims that the blast marks on the sand crawler were too accurate for sand people and could only be made by imperial storm troopers (who, as stated before, are consistantly really bad shots).

in the star wars universe, no body can hit anything. except han solo at point blank range.

My take on the O-NH Greedo was that Han got the chance to demonstrate he was a pretty serious motherfucker, and that smuggling was a pretty rough biz- Greedo and Han knew each other "from around", yet Han still blows Greedo's guts out, then calmly walks out of the cantina, tosses down some cash for the damages, and walks out.

Works for me- Han is a pretty nasty dude, very much in the mold of The Man With No Name.

Now, the Greedo Shoots First Heresy.

I can almost buy it... I don't like it as much- it really pulls Han's teeth as a character who undergoes a change- but sure. In this version Greedo is a schlub, a second-stringer, a wannabe that Jaba sends in to get Han's attention. "Why did you fry poor Greedo?" makes greeny-snout seem like a real candyass. He just doesn't play in Han's league now, and gets wasted for his trouble. Jaba is waiting outside to have a word with Han... and you have got to like his style. So long as he sees his money, he doesn't really give a crap is the scum he surrounds himself with ice each other. He's a jolly old murderous slug, with a sense of irony and odd humor. "Let that pesky little Greedo go and talk to Han. Perhaps he'll make his bones and become a real player... or perhaps Han will fry him and he'll quit bitching about never getting any good jobs. Either way, I get my point across."

Now... the tail-stomp... Jaba should have had Fet shoot Han's testicles off for this indignity.

Oh, you mean, this information came from the Star Wars Databank, where the Ewok Adventures are actually part of the expanded universe, and every single link leads to an online toy shop? I wouldn't trust that. As far as I remember, there was no freaking Star Wars website back in 1977.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

There would have been if the internet was commercially available then.

Lucas would've seen to that.

LMAO.

I can see your point about the new concept revealing something about Jaba - but I think, as I think you do, its a reach.

The original was amazing. It was about as a good a finish to Han's introduction as you can imagine. We already know he is cocky, and we know that he is "cool", now after he wastes Greedo, we know he is a real bad ass. Salty dog you know? I think that was the original draw to his character. (Im thinking about the lines in ESB, about Leia liking Han, because he's a scoundrel, etc.)

I never had much respect for Greedo, but I think some of that came from how slow he was to draw. I guess I just thought he was a loser, cause he was dead. Now, I already think he's a loser, and now he's a terrible shot, and then he's dead. Oh well.

It is a reach... and not one I'm even sure was intended by the edit.

I do like the Original better, but the edit doesn't bother me as much as some of the others.

Greedo is a chump either way- either an goon who talks too much, and lets Han get the drop on him, or a looser Jaba sends to his death just to make a point.

I really like Jaba- he seems like a pretty easy going guy for a huge slimy mafia slug, someone you could really work with. His reaction to the thermal detonator negotiation tactics reflects this. Jaba respects balls and chutzpa. Han wouldn't be any good to him is he were a fawning sycophant or any less hair-trigger and deadly. But Jaba also can't let al dumped cargo go. He likes Han- Han is a good guy, and gets the job done- but business is business.

Greedo is just a chump either way... trying to build him up now as a seasoned bounty hunter... who just happned to miss at 2 feet... just stupid.

Greedo is the best bounty hunter ever.

Except for Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Cassus Fett, IG-88, Bossk, and Bendak Starkiller. And about a million others.

Lucas didnt want to upset the bleeding hearts from the political correctness crowd.

Thats why modern movies suck: They're all PC.

Fine, mister Lucas, while you're at it why dont you replace Lando with will smith?

And they did that terrible editing thing to make it look like Han sort of dodged it. I hate people.

Remember, Old Obi-Wan said: "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise..." which, in the science world, means that all of their shots were close to each other, not to the target. Now accuracy means that they are close to the mark for which they are intended. So what he told Luke was true, from a certain point of view.
