And I thought Star Trek was complicated...
*Puts on "BTTF expert" hat*
Here to answer BTTF related questions and, curiosity's.

Here's the question: Does pt3 OldWestDoc not remember being pt3 1955Doc and sending Marty back to 1885? It's been 30 years, but he should still remember, right?
xhonzi said:
And when he sees Marty in his ridiculous cowboy get-up, instead of asking "What idiot dressed you like that?" shouldn't he instead apologize for his ignorance of 30 years ago?
xhonzi said:
Or is that a different Doc?
xhonzi said:
Just like Marty presumably doesn't have memories of growing up with the hip version of his parents... Does that pt3 1955 Doc now exist in a different 1955 (1955B. 1955AA being the Marty version of 1955 and 1955A being the old Biff version that leads to 1985A)? If that's the case, does any of that affect 1985C Doc? Maybe to the point that he doesn't create the time machine?
xhonzi said:
1985AA Doc didn't invent the time machine the same way as 1985 Doc. What was theory to 1985 Doc is practice to 1985AA Doc! Sure, he came up with the idea for the flux capacitor before the timelines diverged... but what about the idea to use a delorean? Marty's reaction would have been the same "Are you trying to tell me that you built a "time machine" out of a DeLorean?!?!" But 1985AA Doc could hardly answer, "Well, I thought why not build it with some style?" More likely he would have had to say, "Well... that's the car I saw when I was visited by a time traveling Calvin Klein in the 50s."
xhonzi said:
What about deciding to steal the plutonium? Depending on when he read Marty's letter, he might have gotten the idea from the letter as well. What about setting the time circuits for 1955? 1985Doc did this because he was fondly remembering the day he thought of the Flux Cap. 1985AA Doc would have to do it to not mess with history.
And think of how odd 1985AA Doc's friendship would have been with 1985AA Marty. Doc would have had to have played everything very close to the vest to not screw that up.
xhonzi said:
Or, for a minute, let's assume that he went back to a 1955AA without 1985 Marty in it (so this would be 1955AB). 1985AA Marty grew up with parents that fell in love when George punched Biff at the dance. So, if he went back to 1955 (or AA or AB), he wouldn't know the bit about his dad getting hit by the car, wouldn't push him out of the way, so the regular 1955 would probably progress from that point. Causing 1985AA Marty to return to the future to 1985, not the 1985AA he had left. Which really just means that 1985 Marty and 1985AA Marty switched timelines. With the only possible difference that Doc would still be alive (assuming the letter bit went the same as it did in 1955AA) so I guess that does make it a 1985AB- but the parents would more or less be the same as the ones from 1985 prime.
xhonzi said:
I realized soon after posting that, that 1985AA Marty did not die he just went back to 1955AA. You know, the one with Marty prime already running around as Calvin Kelin. What did 1985AA Marty do there? If he traveled back to the same place and time that Marty Prime did... they would have crashed and potentially killed each other. Let's say he arrived moments after Marty prime... How would he not screw that up? And if that Marty ever makes it to 2015, does the same stuff there, and then ends up back in 1955... THERE WOULD BE THREE MARTY's in that 1955!

In case you didn't get the joke, that was 1985 in an alternate reality - on FRINGE.
I like Eric Stoltz but I don't think he could have pulled off the character in quite the same way.
Kind of sad that this movie's "prediction" was way off on just about everything except for gas prices. We look to be on target for the $7/gallon prices in 4 more years. Assuming we don't overshoot it. (Even more sad that the movie wasn't trying too hard to actually predict things and were probably trying to be as sensational as possible with things like gas prices. Instead, they were just right
They purposely created an unrealistic future since you can't really predict what the future will be like. They decided to just have fun with it.
I think you're on a fool's errand Xhonzi.

If I had the opertunity, I would go and live in the Fringe alternate reality, but I would have to take my copy of BTTF with me.
On a related but totally different note, has anybody else played the new BTTF game yet?
Your brain just makes s**t up!
A fate worse than death? Having your head digitally replaced with that of Hayden Christensen!
Yes, I have made a couple of posts in other threads about the Telltale game. I have been enjoying it, especially the voice acting; but it is a very simple point and click adventure game that takes no time to get through. It makes me wish for the open world 3rd person BTTF game I've wanted since early Playstation 2 days all the more.
This is pretty sweet either way.doubleKO said:

Didn't I say as much? In the parenthetical?

What's a matter, Ringo. You.... chicken?!?!

Sure is. I think I got more enjoyment from that mod than the current game. I haven't played the last installment yet though.
Just felt like posting these here in case people didn't follow my earlier link. I know it said possible release, but these are from a real patent application.
I am pretty sure these shoes will exist by 2015. They will be damned expensive though...
And not too convenient to keep charged:

For anyone wanting an unnecessarily detailed analysis of the time travel in BTTF, check out this site.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
I'll probably just end up with this. I have enough Geek Points to get it for free with a $50 purchase.doubleofive said:

That's a pretty good price for it. Amazon has it for $45 or something. Toys'R'Us only has the whitewall MKIII, but it is for that same price.
But I think I'd rather have a MKII. Which thinkgeek doesn't apparently have. :(

I've made up my mind. I am going to buy that real full functioning DeLorean time machine. It'll pay for itself in no time! I'll just use it to go toss a few hundred bucks in a savings account fifty years ago while I am on my way to go make Ms. Hepburn fall in love with me and make RedFive jealous.
This is going to be great! Best $50k I'll have ever spent!
