Hi,

The good and dark side of Star Wars (Keep in mind, these are my opinions and not necessarily agreed by all SW fans):

Good revelations: Darth Vader is Luke's father
Bad revelations: Leia is Luke's sister

Good revelations: The force is explained as "mystical" and all powerful energy field
Bad revelations: The farce is explained as "scientific", Midichlorians are symbionts to all living beings

Good revelations: Anakin was a powerful jedi, influenced by the Emperor and seduced by the Dark Side to become DV.
Bad revelations: Anakin is a virgin birthed chosen one, born from Midichlorians who will bring Balance to the Farce.

Good revelations: Love triangle between Leia, Luke and Han (circa 1977 - 1980)
Bad revelations: Luke and Leia are twins (1983)

Good revelations: Han shot Greedo first - Mercenary, smuggler, scoundrel Han
Bad revelations: Greedo shot Han first - Soppy Han

Good revelations: GL wanted to create a 9 story saga (1980 - Time magazine)
Bad revelations: GL stated ROTJ was the last (1983); GL later decides to do PT, stating SW is a 6 story saga.

Good revelations: SW is about "The Adventures of Luke Skywalker"
Bad revelations: SW is about Anakin Skywalker (1999)

Good revelations: ROTJ originally was planned for Wookiees
Bad revelations: Ewoks

Good revelations: Anakin is redeemed (Sebastian Shaw)
Bad revelations: Anakin is redeemed (Hayden Christiansen)

Good revelations: Yoda's knowledge and experience with the force knows no equal
Bad revelations: Yoda fights Dooku with a lightsaber (IMO, Yoda should not have given in to Dooku's taunts and prove anything to Dooku)

Good revelations: GL made the decision to create the PT
Bad revelations: GL made the PT as is.

Yes I agree with all of the above.

However, I can live with the Luke and Leia are twins bit if only because it prompts my favourite scene in the trilogy:

VADER:
Your thoughts betray you.
Your feelings for them are strong.
Especially for... SISTER! So, you have a twin sister.
Your feelings have now betrayed her, too.
Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete.
If YOU will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps she WILL.

LUKE:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And so begins the best part of the trilogy the destruction of Darth Vader and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker (as Sebastian Shaw [with hella-cool eyebrows]).

Also believe it or not that's my favorite music cue in the movie. Watching BIRTH OF A LIGHTSABER, they show (most of) it without music and man is it fuckin weird...

Nah, he says "Never!" as he charges towards Vader. It´s hard to make out exactly what he says, but this is from imdb.com (probably taken directly from the script):

Darth Vader : You cannot hide forever, Luke.
Luke : I will not fight you.
Darth Vader : Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes. Your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister. So, you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side... then perhaps she will.
Luke : NEVER!

Good Revelations: The Empire could not have been overthrown without the two droids, R2D2 and C3P0.
Bad Revelations: C-3P0 was created by Anakin Skwalker; R2 saved everyone in the Naboo fighter, allowing the prequel characters to survive and be in two more movies.
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

This one's the worst. The prequels make the whole saga pointless. It's about a man turning bad and then back to good...

With just the OT, it was about Luke's adventures and, over time, learning Vader was his father and turning him back to the light side. Damn them prequels.

Am I the only person here who actually *liked* the Ewoks? I mean, for once I agree with Lucas' decision about something and his justification for it--a planet full of wookiees might've impressed the He-Man generation, but we've *seen* a Wookiee before. At least with the Ewoks, he introduces something new that we haven't seen in Star Wars before.

the ewoks are not too bad, but it would've been nice to see more than only one wookie and how chewbacca interacts with other of his kin. it would have added something more to his character.
however it would have been a huge coincidence if the inhabitants of endor, the planet chosen to guard DS2 had been wookies.

Yea. That's another thing--why would the Empire build a forcefield generator on a moon full of Wookiees, who they know could kick their shiny white asses? I know I'd prefer to build it on a moon populated by small, insignifigant cutesy-poo teddy bears who, to the naked eye, pose no threat.

Honestly, the one I agree with the most is about the Force, and Anakin's origin. It is just lame. I cant even expand on my thoughts for it. *Dry Heaves*

Interesting thoughts about the preference of Ewoks. Still, my preference would still be wookiees, as it had been rumored that wookiees were once slaves to the Empire, and to me a race of Wookiees defeating the Empire's finest legions would serve as greater irony to the political injustice.

(EPISODE 3 POSS SPOLIERS

Something that maybe in Episode 3 that may not make much sense given conversations from Episode 4...















In Ep3 it is rumoured that Chewbacca will carry Yoda on his back whilst escaping from the Clonetroopers on Kashyyk, and that Yoda uses the Force in front of Chewy and some other Wookiees - repeatedly - to aid that escape.

From the poster 'BulbaSeb' on tf.n:-

In Ep4 Han stated that he doesn't believe in hokey religions or some mystical all powerful Force. What? Chewie just let's that go? I don't think so. Over the years, Chewie's going to let Han know a thing or two about stories from the old days - or at least his past.

"Really buddy, I didn't know... a little green guy you say?"
"Rrrwor rrrowwwwoowr rrrowrr"
"Right, and you expect me to believe that he threw missiles away, and pushed stormtroopers to the floor just by waving his hand"

I don't buy it.

Maybe we need the intervening episode, like Troops! in ANH
