Another cool thing to find would be an SP copy of Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. This may be impossible; the film spent the 90s sub-licensed to GoodTimes, who released exclusively in LP mode. The only chance would be to hunt for possible SP versions of the earlier Video Treasures issue, or the Canadian HGV release which had the same box art style as the Anchor Bay releases. (I am assuming HGV had Canadian distribution deals with both GoodTimes and StarMaker/Anchor Bay.) But I have no idea if either were even issued in SP, and as with many dual-format releases the only way to know for sure may be to look at the cassette itself. (Makes me wish I hadn’t recorded over my SP recording off AMC…)

I will see what I can do about finding it if it’s out there.

The Beech release is the only one with the original THE END title card. But it was unauthorized (not legitimately public domain, since the U.S. copyright never actually expired), and comes from a really beat-up 16mm print. You can see it on TheH-Man’s YouTube clip of the original end card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIXrXMiKyJY

(There were also Beech releases of the other two Walter Reade titles, but they also looked poor. Though again, they retained the original end titles. Son even ended with the Reade logo.)

I can’t tell if that’s a full spool, or a partial spool.

Yeah, I thought I linked to that one already. 😉

I wouldn’t mind raw VIDEO_TS folders of Mechagodzilla and Gigan to go up on the 'spleen (I would prefer folders so I can edit using the files and seed without having to extract an .iso which would take up unnecessary space).

So, a new book came out and we learned so much, and it is called, “Anguilosaurus, Killer of the Living”.

I believe these would be okay on the spleen. I’ll get the approval and I think what I’ll do is put all 5 in 1 folder with their own perspective titles so that people can chose.

Give me a day or two to get things set up and I’ll drop a note in here once they’re up.

Okay, for those who want these … I NEED a list of things these tapes contain that didn’t make it in to other versions so I can have a good description while I await approval of their upload.

Cheers!!!

It’s already established Gigan and Mechagodzilla have the unaltered dub tracks (no reverting to a clean M&E source/no lost voice work/no sync issues), but the remaining three are all okay because Son of Godzilla’s Titan dub has never been released digitally (and the domestic R1 of the export dub is OOP), Godzilla 1985 has never been released digitally on home video, and the theatrical sound mix is not on the MonstersHD version (What’s missing: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2qesua) (I already have a marginally better audio source on account of the Image LaserDisc but whatever), and Ghidrah’s DVD version is a rather poor reconstruction of the U.S. version not mastered from an actual complete U.S. visual source. These are all fair game for MS.

Coolness. I got the OK from Eftydub to upload. I just wanted to cover all my bases so they didn’t get put down after being uploaded.

I will upload the captures first and I will follow up with the pcm audio only afterwards. Thanks for the info. I will add it to the description.

Jedit: I also have a Dolby Digital ac3 file for Godzilla 1985.

I have Godzilla Vs. Megalon in SP mode. I have it capped already with pcm, I will just have to convert it to DVD9 size for sharing.

Congrats on actually finding it. There were so many crappy slow speed PD versions released I lost count.

Weird thing is, I already owned it and didn’t realize it. It’s a 1991 Diamond Entertainment release that I can find nothing about.

Diamond? You’re serious? I had no idea Diamond ever did anything SP! This blows my mind as much as the time I found an early Goodtimes copy of Alice Sweet Alice that was SP (and probably weighed as much as a half-dozen ordinary LP-mode GT tapes combined).

I just assumed you found the Anchor Bay SP version, the fact that it was from DEC just amazes me…

I bought it before I got the Anchor Bay VHS EP set that I ended up replacing with the SP set. I was at a local collectible store and bought it for like $7.00 because I was trying to snag a Godzilla 1985 VHS that was on hold for another customer who hadn’t come in for it yet. I did some research and found out from a fellow collector that he has the same Diamond release and it is in fact, SP mode, circa 1991. Probably a rarity of sorts, especially for that time frame. Fact is, I got lucky, and didn’t know it until afterwards, LOL.

Ok, question. For some reason I chose MAGY codec when I captured this. HOW do I get it from the AVI it’s in now to an mpeg file, keeping the pcm audio, so that I can do a DVD9 size for this release?

Thanks

Just purchased a copy of Godzilla Vs. Biollante VHS from Dimension films. I don’t know if it has anything useful for projects but if it does, let me know and I’ll cap and upload it.

Cheers

I have uploaded the Miramax VHS of Godzilla Vs. Biollante at the spleen. In a separate folder is the PCM audio for it.
