Anyone else catch the segment. I was amused by the shear childishness of the whole thing. The same basic, “new technology is great” stuff we’ve heard a million times.

I found it interesting that she got Lucas to admit that the final battle essentially takes place in Hell.

Other gems included Lucas claiming he’s not picky. This came up on why he hasn’t remarried. Considering how they showed Lucas dictating exactly how a character should be reshot to walk a certain way, and the fact the they apparently replaced Anakin and Obi in a couple of fight frames because their positions weren’t perfect, I’d say that’s a pretty big contradiction.

Lucas saying he’s pretty much happy with III. We all know that will change in maybe a year or too. ^_-.

Very odd piece. It was amusing and interesting, yet totally generic and immature at almost the same time. Is 60 Minutes always like that?

I thought it was excellent. Much to the chigrin of us who post here, Lucas still stands by the idea that these are his films and he can do whatever he wants with them.

I particularly liked his analogy:
"Say I panted my house white. Someone comes along and says I should paint it green. But I don't want it to be green. Maybe it should be green, maybe it will look better being green, but I want it white. It's going to be white."
The Jedi are all but extinct.......

You'd think with all the journalistic ambushes 60 Minutes has done over the years, someone would whip out a dog eared copy of "Once Upon a Galaxy:The Making of The Empire Strikes Back" and read back Lucas' own words from 1979 on that particular subject.

Unfortunatly I missed it. I was on the phone with a friend of mine who lives in CA and he asked me if I was open to any spoilers...I said sure, why not. I realized later that I had forgotten that we were in different time zones. For those of you who saw it, was it interesting?

...I had been wondering about that Klingon_Jedi, haha! he admited! My mind is at ease (one with the force now maybe)

I think Lucas had originally intended a seventh episode, but that later changed to only 1-3.

I'm trying not to watch George Lucas interviews. They make me feel sorry for him.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

That's bad anlogy. For one thing, if the house looks better green than white, then he can expect difficulty trying to sell the house. I don't have to buy a white house If I don't want to. And the OT can be released in both editions. Thus for Lucas "the house" would be white and for the those that prefer it to be green, it would be green. Why not give the fans the choice?

This is lame. The correct analogy would be: "Say I painted my house puke orange and turd brown with some purple thrown in. Someone comes along and says I should paint it green. But I don't want it to be green. Maybe it should be green, maybe it will look better being green, but I want it puke orange, turd brown and purple. It's going to be puke orange, turd brown and purple".

Let me try my hand at the proper analogy:

Say my house was hunter green, and everyone liked it like that. Then I found out that aluminum-siding was the new thing to do. I decided against going with green again, so I found this great hot-pink siding. Cost practically nothing.

If I may, the trouble with the analogies (both his and previously posted ones), is that we didn't want him to change the color. It was just fine the way it was before.
HE'S the one that changed the color of the house, not us.

I agree. He always looks so pathetic trying to defend his crummy views and fend off all the harsh questions by "picky" fans; you do kind of feel sorry for him.

After all, he had poured enormous amounts of money into these films, thinking he was doing the right thing and restoring them and making them better. It's no wonder to me that he doesn't want to release the original versions right away, actually; he's still irritated that we didn't like his improved versions. That we like the "flawed" versions insults him as a filmmaker. Therefore, his reasoning is that he must not have made it perfect enough; he must not have made it tie in well enough with the new movies. "Aha!" Lucas thinks. "They didn't like my Jabba scene because the computer animation wasn't good enough. Wait until they see this!" What he might not realize is that our problems with the scene are not solely with the computer graphics, but with its redundancy.

I wouldn't like that, though. I LOVE the Greedo scene. Granted, it was ruined ever since 1997, but it's still a classic. If I were re-editing the films, the Jabba scene would be on the cutting room floor in no time flat.

Ha ha! Yes, I have inside information about Episode III. Not all the production members are in on this, but Jar-Jar becomes the emperor. He's pulling the strings; he's manipulating everyone while seeming childish and ignorant of everything going on.

I have Photoshop. Heck, I thought it would fit right in with Lucas' Photoshopped Hayden at the end! Why not go the extra step and truly tie the trilogies together?
