NEW YORK - Lucasfilm's Star Wars franchise had its highest toy revenue ever for a non-movie year in 2010 and the best toy revenue since Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

With sales of more than $510 million last year, Star Wars also maintained its position as the bestselling boys toy license in the U.S. for the third consecutive year, according to Lucasfilm and research firm NPD Group.

The last item is interesting but my officepoliticsometer needle was twitching every bit as much as my misogyny detector senses were.

I feel sorry for poor Brian, if a company with the profile of Lucasfilm were connected in anyway to the production of wrist exercise magazines with busty ladies on the cover there would be tutting heads about the objectification of womens bodies but somehow a coffee table book of exposed boy flesh can pass with very little comment.

It's more of a class thing than a gender or sexual orientation issue in my opinion.

The working classes are less likely to to get a monochrome fapbook.
