Yeah, I think Dooku being in cahoots with Sidious completely killed his character beyond repair.

No, it was Anakin that did that.

Wheels are a somewhat non-Star Warsy thing.

What are you talking about?

That just proves the point.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

Doesn’t R2 have wheels? Or am I going crazy?

I expect that the droids have wheels because the designers literally couldn’t think of another way for them to move around. But I think it’s telling that the wheels are either barely noticeable or covered by panels.

They could have hovered, like every other vehicle in Star Wars ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Luke’s speeder had giant wheels that the designers covered with Vaseline.

I don’t think this is Canon but I heard that Luke also used vasoline for his dry shins. Are these two things related?

They weren’t originally but then Lucas retconned it in ROTJ.

I meant as a practical solution that wouldn’t require excessive special effects for the budget and era.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I confess that I didn’t see the tiny bit of gantry above the TIE in that shot at first.

The only onscreen evidence of how TIE’s are parked pre-SE is in ROTJ.

Jedi Outcast had a Star Destroyer level with a hangar bay full of TIE’s hanging around this way.

I never noticed the TIE hanging from some sort of maintenance gantry in this shot before!

Fun fact: The majority of what you see in the last too images are matte paintings. I geek out every time.

Also, Return Of The Jedi is my favorite Star Wars movie.

They should replace all the matte paintings with CGI because that’s what George would have done had the technology existed at the time /s

Amazing how ROTJ has some of the best and worst matte paintings.

In the Star Wars To Jedi doc, the ILM guys pretty much admit this shot looked dead until they added more rebels doing stuff to it. It’s still wonky though.

There must be a reason they didn’t film this in front of the full size Falcon prop. Or use one of the miniatures.

At least they changed the perspective for Han’s POV out the shuttle window.

Wow, you really added a whole lot to the conversation.

The other issue with the rebel hangar shot is we see an X-Wing parked really close to the boarding ramp side of the Falcon, and it’s not there when Han and Lando part company. Not to mention the position of the B-Wing makes it look like it’s mashed up into an X-Wing? The heck?

Maybe I’m just not as experienced with film but I don’t see it.
