My SW-related Christmas gifts this year.
That book on the left was the first (and last) EU book I read in my early teens. I always loved that cover picture mainly because of the Falcon. Just something tragically beautiful seeing it damaged; it’s probably why in one of the TFA trailers, I thought they were going for that imagery when the Falcon was skidding through the snowy landscape of Starkiller Base.

Neat. Are the stories without colour like they were originally, or have they been coloured?
Either way, I already have the “Wild Space” version and $70 is a bit much for me right now.
Star Wars is Surrealism, not Science Fiction (essay)
Original Trilogy Documentaries/Making-Ofs (YouTube, Vimeo, etc. finds)
Beyond the OT Documentaries/Making-Ofs (YouTube, Vimeo, etc. finds)

No idea if the stories have been coloured. Like you I will wait until the softcover version and a cheaper price.
The heart breaking thing for me is that I had all the Star Wars Weekly issues.
Only the movie adaptations of Star Wars and Empire issues still remain in my collection.
The rest are lost to time.
My SW-related Christmas gifts this year.
(Many people on this forum has recommended against me reading 'Vector Prime", but to be honest, the more weird stuff I hear about it, the more I want to read it.)
One of my gifts today was the second trade volume of the original Marvel comics, and included is a story from the UK weekly series that was never printed in the US. It takes place immediately after the original movie, and shows Leia giving Chewie his medal later in the ceremony. I’m happy.
I’m just curious, which omnibus includes the UK stories? I bought this one a few years back, which at the time was the only place you could get those stories. Are they now included in the “Original Marvel Years” books?
I have the softcover "Epic Collection" trades of “The Original Marvel Years”. They include UK stories that weren’t printed in the US in black and white.
.
I went to get a new calendar today and the Go! store at the mall had everything 50% off. They actually had a 3.75 inch Old Luke figure (I haven’t seen any around here) and I got it for $4.99 so I’m pretty happy.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher
So I just got a Youtube ad for HBO Nordic about showing the OT and PT films and I noticed that the colours on the OT clips looked quite normal. I haven’t actually watched the official blu-ray version, but aren’t ANH pretty weird-looking colour-wise? In the Despecialized Edition comparison video ANH has a purple hue to it. The same clip of Leia talking to Vader on the Tantive IV that was used for the comparison was in this promo/trailer and it looked quite normal. There was a shot at the end showing the DS explosion with the Praxis effect, so they were obviously SE clips (not that I expected anything else). So has there been an “improved” release of the SE OT recently or am I just imagining things?

Did anyone have all the Star Wars SE Tazos?
Yes, I have the complete set on my bookshelf right now!
Funnily enough, I was just looking at them the other day.
^ 😃
Aye mate - sites like HelloGreedo have their own store https://www.teepublic.com/user/hellogreedo - and seems that teepublic site, and others like them, make t-shirts on a ‘made-to-order’ basis now too. It also has some decent SW t-shirts on there on general sale too.
(A bit different to days of old where someone would have to pay set-up fees, screen-print costs, and deposit down or buy a minimum of 50 t-shirts beforehand etc)
I’m not saying we should have our own store - yet there are possibilities out there…
As said on the prior page, I think it’s a really good idea…

That comparison video makes the BluRays look worse than they actually are, and I can’t remember the technical mistake that made it that way. Unfortunate.
I caught a live broadcast of a 4th of July concert where an orchestra did a Star Wars medley this past year, and it cut to some scenes from what appeared to be an SD Master of the 1997 SE. And the Xfinity OnDemand menu screen seemed to be using the GOUT for their little Star Wars bump when TFA came out.

It’s still a good comparison video as the problems affecting the bluray footage affects the entire video, including the Despecialized footage.
It’s unfortunately a terrible reference for either though.
Can’t believe it’s been a whole year.

I just preordered The Last Jedi novelization audiobook from Audible. Audible says it will be available in March.

I took advantage of Barnes and Noble’s 40% off Criterion blu-rays and an additional 25% off coupon to get The Hidden Fortress. I’ve never seen it, but as its listed as an inspiration for Star Wars so I guess I should.

You’re in for a treat.
What if decades from now Disney/Lucasfilm (long after Kathleen Kennedy, George Lucas, and her successors have past on) announced “We’re going to remake ANH and the OT!” for those of you who might still be around for it.
We’ll all be heads floating in jars by the time that happens. 😉
