I don’t know. A few months ago you’d probably be shocked to agree with me over anyone else 😉

My problem with Kylo Ren was just that he was too unlikable. I know he’s a villain and I get that we’re not supposed to root for them, but I didn’t get what his problem was and the emulation of Vader seemed a bit weak to me. Keep in mind, even though I dislike TFA, I’ve always defended the cast and characters for the most part, so I still think he’s probably more mediocre than actually bad.

I have generally agreed with you on non-politics things, like how annoying certain other users are.

Extra bonus question - https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/20/40/7a/20407a3da48210ce80ccbdd2e18e5cdf.jpg

Does anyone remember this kind of thing? I didn’t seem that weird at the time. What were they smoking…

Oh god I had that toy…

The mid 90’s saw some strange ideas come out of Kenner.

At least the old Mini Rigs back in the 80’s looked like something that was just “off camera” in the OT. In Kenner’s defense, they did follow up with more sensible things like a Hoth Rebel soldier with a laser cannon, and the Probe Droid.

Is that Mark Hamill doing the commercial voiceover?

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I might just be showing my lack of age, but when I hear Vector Prime, I think “Time Travelling Transformer,” not “The book where they crash a moon onto Chewie.”

Wait, there are fans who are rooting for Kylo Ren?

Well Kylo was actually an interesting character, I’d much rather root for someone I care about.

Root for him to hurt the main ‘good guy’ in the film? Unlike Vader who was a ‘cool’ bad guy, there are no redeeming qualities for Ren (in my opinion). He works as the foe to Rey but I don’t understand any support for him to be victorious.

Vader ‘killed’ Ben after a fair duel between the two. Ren murdered his unarmed father after tricking him into standing really close to him and stabbing him in the heart. He failed at every task he was given in the film and was defeated by a ‘novice’ Force user.
I don’t think he is a poorly written character, I’m just confused about what appeal he has to anyone other than his helmet.

Right. He’s the type of villain that you just want to see die and never have to look at again. That doesn’t mean that he’s poorly written necessarily, and that can be an effective villain in certain films, but generally not light-hearted adventure films like Star Wars.

Interesting. That predates his narration (as Luke) in the commercial for the Vector Prime novel by a couple years.

Love that commercial. It really sets the tone, too bad the actual book wasn’t great (though I did enjoy it).

Not enough people read the EU.

Has anyone ever tried to collect (digitally) every official Star Wars poster released? I’ve been finding and saving them for almost year now and have about 50% of OT posters and the vast majority of the rest.

I was wondering whether people would be interested in a thread with a Google Drive link so they could download posters for themselves / possibly contribute towards building a high quality digital database of every Star Wars poster ever released?

I also have a good number of awesome alternate Star Wars posters too but I imagine they may be legally iffy to share since many were/are available to buy.

A website with smaller images of the posters for informational purposes would probably fall under the umbrella of fair use. TFN has had a site with all the major posters, but not the more obscure stuff like posters sold in stores, and stuff only available through the original fan club.

I had the posters in the bottom right corner when I was a kid. My color choices with the magic markers might have been a tad off though. 😉

Where were you in '77?

So did Vader in STAR WARS…

Vader ‘killed’ Ben after a fair duel between the two. Ren murdered his unarmed father after tricking him into standing really close to him and stabbing him in the heart.

Ben…let himself be killed though…Why exactly are you using this in an argument?

Also Kylo killing his father in that manner is beyond sadistic. We never seen Vader do anything that cruel and he’s a fully formed villain.

I don’t think he is a poorly written character, I’m just confused about what appeal he has to anyone other than his helmet.

Haha so goofy. There was a Boba Fett Deluxe too I remember. At one point I’m sure there was a Han Solo that came with the Falcon turret, but they decided that it needed an action feature so the barrels of the gun itself fired out for some reason.

I have a question that I’ve been chewing on since 1983. Nobody has ever answered it and I can’t get any major content creators to answer me. Anyone up for a head-scratcher?

Sorry, I’m unable to answer that question as well.

Ok, here goes…

The first Death Star had a propulsion system that toted it around the galaxy to act as a means of coercion and destruction. Presumably, it had both shield generator AND armor and a fatal flaw that was incorporated into its design was exploited.

Death Star II was fully operational at the time of it’s assault by the Rebel Alliance. Presumably, armor in place with its shield generator, which was located on Endor. However, by that rationale, the second Death Star was entirely reliant on Endor for its shield capabilities. If not for its orbit around the moon, it was subject to destruction.

So…

Did the Empire have designs on building shield generators on every system under its control? Was there a similar propulsion system or was there one at all? If there was a propulsion system and only the one shield generator, were they going to tow Endor out of orbit of its home planet and drag it across the galaxy? Were they going to build multiple Death Stars, one for each system, and build shield generators for support in their respective systems? Or could the Rebellion truly have just avoided Endor altogether if they had wanted to?

As George Carlin would say, “These are the thoughts that kept me out of the really good schools.” Thanks in advance for any assistance on this mental anguish I have suffered these 3+ decades.

DS-1 didn’t have shields, at least not very effective ones. DS-2 only had a shield during the construction phase, once all the physical gaps were filled in, it would have been indestructible on it’s own.

You couldn’t answer if you were up for a head-scratcher?

So what, the Emperor called it ‘Fully armed and operational’ by virtue of the fact that it could fire and had a functional shield at the time it was attacked?

Feel kinda silly with an answer that basic…

Okay then, I’ll put that unnecessary brain worm to bed. LOL

LOL. I’ll hang out. I finally had a dream come true the other day. I was cruising the garage sale function of Facebook where you can buy other people’s crap and this lady had a bunch of her uncle’s stuff for sale because he had just passed away. Among the junk was a box of old movies that had the box set of the original Trilogy with the black label, before the Lucas additions/abominations, on VHS. I contacted the lady and she was asking $.50 per cassette. When I met up with her, I gave her a $5 bill, snatched it out of her hand and took it home to find that NONE OF THE CASSETTES had been opened. The original seal was still in place. I’ve been in the process of capturing the movies to my hard drive and burning them to DVD so I don’t have to wear out the tapes.
