I think it’s just a joke. Most people creating/sharing these memes loved the film and the characters they’re parodying.

I’m not sure if this is the correct thread to post this but am I the only one who is sick of the half assed memes?

I guess the person who made this forgot that Kylo threatened Hux’s life (implied threat) and Hux didn’t say shitall.

It also pisses me off that Kylo is now seen as a whiner like Anakin even though her never whined ONCE in the film. Seeing stuff like this on a daily basis is beginning to piss me off because now people are taking the stuff literally.

Eh. I thought that one was kinda funny.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

It’s funny but would never happen and only perpetuates the stereotype that Kylo Ren would get his ass kicked by a teletubby.

Welcome to the wonderful world of memes, where minor character traits are overemphasized and exaggerated for humourous effect.

Whether it’s for humorous effect Hux would still be deadly scared of him. I’m not fond of memes that don’t make sense and it was mostly just an example. I’ll find a better example of what I’m talking about which will be tomorrow because I’m drinking right now and don’t feel like it.

Is “spice” really supposed to be an illegal drug in SW? At least, was that the intent in 1977? It’s likely a reference to the drug in Dune, but these lines from ANH have me wondering:

“My father didn’t fight in the wars. He was a navigator on a spice freighter.”

“That’s what your uncle told you. He didn’t hold with your father’s ideals, thought he should’ve stayed here and not gotten involved.”

If spice is a drug, why would Uncle Owen make up this lie that Father Skywalker was a smuggler/drug runner/criminal? It seems like if he were going to lie about his past, he’d make up something more mundane, like a navigator on a refuse barge or something. Make it seem like Father Skywalker was kind of a regular dude, something like a truck driver.

Even the way Luke says his line, I was always under the impression that it was a mundane job.

From the spice article on Wookieepedia: “The matter was brought up to George Lucas, who confirmed that spice is a drug.”

Thoughts?

Anyone remember different camera angles from ROTJ?

There are probably some legal uses for spice. Han is smuggling the potent stuff. 😉

The navigator on a spice freighter story may have been a way to discourage Luke from digging too deeply into his father’s past. Not too scandalous, but shady enough that proper records would be scarce.

Probably to further downplay Luke’s father. If Luke knew he fought in the Wars, Luke would see him as a hero and someone to look up to. Instead Luke is fed the lie that Anakin was some crazy drug smuggler. Not very inspiring.

JEDIT: SilverWook has some good points too.

Has Kylo Ren ever had a girlfriend?

No, He’s always Ben Solo 😉

Kylo Ren, Solo Ben, what’s the difference. 😛

So I guess “Kylo Ren” is vain enough to name an order of Dark Side knights after himself.

Who does that remind me of…

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

It hasn’t been confirmed how the Knights of Ren was created so it’s pretty premature to say Ben named it after himself.

Yeah, I had assumed he got the name from the Knights and just rose through their ranks after destroying the entire new Jedi Order.

Or he got the name from a “What Is Your Star Wars Name?” meme.

Judging from the flashback, said ranks consist of a mighty army of… 7.

Huh. Seven Dark Jedi.

Eh, Jedi Knight did it better. And with yellow lightsabers, too.

Although I wasn’t able to find the original meme I was looking for this glistening turd took it’s place.

The bathroom thread led to another long burning question. The place Threepio and Artoo are hiding out in when stormtroopers are searching Mos Eisley, is it part of a cheap sleazy motel that rents rooms by the hour? I presume Luke and Ben rented a room, so the droids weren’t milling about in the open while they sold off the speeder.

And why can’t the troops just break down the door and search everywhere? They’re the freaking Empire! They’ve already slaughtered Jawas, and Luke’s family in pursuit of the droids, but one locked door and they just move on to the next one?

Yeah, that is one of the more puzzling bits of the original Star Wars. In the radio drama there is actually a scene, where Threepio convinces the owner of a private residence that they are a part of a new maintenance crew and they are offering their services for free to attract customers, so the owner lets them in and they can hide from the stormtroopers. I don’t know if this is based on anything from the scripts or the novelization, but it works quite well.

To me another weird moment is when the stormtroopers find the droids hiding in the closet in the DS control room and Threepio just tells them that Luke & co. are at the detention levels. It always seemed to me like he got scared by the stormtroopers and ratted everyone out. The radio drama once again makes it clear that Threepio deceived the stormtroopers into believing that the droids are a part of the DS personnel and have been locked in the closet by the intruders, who are now making a racket in the detention block.
