I'm sure in his private life George is a kind father and a good friend to those who know him, he might even be a good boss if you are lucky enough to be employed by him.
He certainly has given a lot to charity and played a part in pushing the technology of the moving image along to the point that almost anyone could make a rather epic looking film in their living room (though the possibility of success is not a guarantee of success in that respect).
But if Anne Hathaway caught her husband in the act of burning the original manuscripts to Henry IV Part One because Falstaff didn't match up with the later plays she would be a lousy human being not to stop him*, author's rights or not (and George Lucas is no William Shakespeare).
