Now that I read the comics I realize the Jones Dent is a lot different than the comic version.

The Jones Dent?

I think he means Tommy Lee Jones in BF.

I think Robert Davi would be a brilliant Two Face.

Sorry, sean wookie, it appears that I *almost* erased the Schumacher films from my mind!

Hmmm...I think Davi looks too evil to begin with for us to sympathise with the Harvey Dent side of him, but that's just me.

So how old would you guys guess the Joker to be? Late 30s? Early 40s? Vague 50s?

Am I the only one who liked Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face? I thought he made a great villian. Of course, I also don't have the dislike for Batman Forever that many people have.
As for the Jokers age, can't say I thought about it much. maybe in his 30's to 40's? 50's would be too old.

True, but that didn't stop them from using a 50 something Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the 1989 film.

I think the Joker should be approximately ten years older than Batman, give or take. Hence, Batman in 'TDK' will probably be in his early thirties*, so Joker should be in his early forties.

*He had graduated college, meaning that he was probably 22 when Joe Chill was murdered, then he vanished for seven years before Ducard found him. It never mentioned how old he was despite his birthday being depicted in the film.

I know people can be nuts at pretty much any age, but for a Joker kind of nuts, I think age helps. I find the intelligent middle-age psychos to be more scary for some reason.

War does not make one great.

True. Also remember in "The Killing Joke" he had a wife who was expecting a child before he even became the Joker, so at least in the comics, he's fairly aged.

Then again, he also said that might not have been what actually happened considering his memories fluctuated.

I always thought that they intentionally leave the Joker's background uncertain and different stories because of the Joker's insanity. But I don't follow the comics that closely. Question: In the Batman movie, the Joker's real name was Jack Napier. Is this his real name in the comics, or is it different, or uncertain? I thought that someone who is a bigger Batman comic fan than I once told me that they had more than one 'real name' for the Joker, meaning they all are probably fakes.

The Killing Joke by Alan Moore, is for many the definitive Joker origin story, and most certainly one of the greatest bat-tales ever told, but Moore leaves the story open to be doubted. They gave the Joker an origin in the first movie, which contains a few elements from that particular story, but for all intensive purposes, his real name is unknown.

Jack Napier has been retconned to just an alias he used, right?

At least according to the DC Encyclopedia, he has no real name and his origins are unknown...so probably.

Some more news on TDK from IGN:

At an edit bay visit for The Prestige, the upcoming thriller set in the world of turn-of-the-century magicians, we got a chance to ask Batman Begins helmer Christopher Nolan some questions about his upcoming Dark Knight project.

Speculation continues to circle about the sequel to Batman Begins. Heath Ledger has signed on to play The Joker, but other casting and story elements have been constantly in question, and various Hollywood personalities have been rumored to be involved. However, the air was cleared temporarily by Nolan.

The director had one comment for all of the questions asked, which included queries about Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin, Ryan Phillipe's involvement in the project and Sean Penn's inclusion as Harvey Dent. The director simply said, "No truth to any such rumors. Always interesting ideas."

Nolan will begin work on The Dark Knight when The Prestige wraps. The film, which stars Batman actor Christian Bale, in addition to Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson, is in its final stages of sound editing and will arrive in theaters October 20th. Stay tuned for to IGN for more details on both films, an in-depth look at the sound editing visit and an insightful Christopher Nolan interview, coming soon.

Hm... 'The Prestiege' has Wolverine and Batman in the same movie? Maybe Nolan can slip in a Dark Claw refference.
