LOL! I'm holding out about as much hope for this one as I did for Cat in the Hat. Breckin Meyer + J Love + Bill Murray = all the earmarks of a disaster.
On the flip side, it could be better than Scooby-Doo, which isn't saying much.

I love the Garfield comic strip but I don't see how it can transulate well into a movie.

Cartoon-to-Real conversions are bound to fail - and rather pointless, imho. Just leave the stuff in cartoon style and deliver a good story instead of trying to sell the movie over the 1337 new SFX or that "look we can do it with real people, too" effect - it just gives me the creeps most of the time.

i think it will be a flop....
they gotta stop trying to bring nostlagic cartoons to the screen...
ie Scooby Doo, Cat in the Hat, Casper...

Two weeks of semi-decent box office. Then it will drop off into film hell.

I don't even give it two weeks. Watch Scooby Doo 2 tank this weekend, and you'll see a subsequent drop-off in live action films based on cartoon animals. And DAYV is absolutely right: Garfield is so 20 years ago!

Yeah, and it's intermittently funny. I generally have a better appreciation for cartoonists who knew when to pack it in, like Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes) and Gary Larson (The Far Side).

Then you have great cartoonists like Berkeley Breathed who had a great strip in Bloom County. One of the best IMHO. Until he trampled all over its memory with Outland and his most recent incarnation which I think is just called Opus.
