THE BACKGROUND ON THIS CHARACTER IS THAT HE'S THE ONE WIPING OUT THE JEDI. THE PROBLEM WQITH THAT PLOT POINT IS THAT WE'VE BEEN LED TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS DARTH VADER WHO DID THAT. THIS IS A COOL CLONE WARS ANIMATED SERIES CHARACTER, BUT TO HAVE HIM IN THE MOVIE IS A BAD MOVE.

not to mention from what I've seen we only have confirmation of him killing one third string jedi in onscreen in Ep3, with the possibility of three more.

I find a bit strange to condemn something before even knowing it. I will judge that villain after I've seen the movie - plenty of time to throw vegetables and yelling at the screen afterwards.

I agree, but I'm not making my comments entirely uninformed, I know the basic structure of the story of the film and what follows in the next three as well as the two procedding episodes. A character, especially a villian should have a full arc and not just get offed half way through the movie.

When it comes to the prequels, I have to admit I'm a 100% fanboy (just as much as when it comes to the OT). So I'm actually looking forward to Episode III - and yes - even to see General Grievous in action. The prequels are the CGI-guys' playground and I have no problem with that. The only thing that should be off limits to them is the OT (need I go into details here? Hehe, I guess not).

I think General (or even Darth?) Grievous has the potential for a great temporary villain. I agree that it would be nice to focus on one villain during the trilogy and have that one being finished off in Ep3. But I have to say that I'm not entirely unhappy with the approach that is taken for the prequels. These films are not about those villains, they are about the guy who's about to become the one ultimate villain that outlasts all the others before him.

I think that it's not that bad to show that Sidious considers his servants to be nothing more than disposable assets, that only serve one purpose - to further his goals. It just proves that Vader is much tougher than all those guys we've seen in the prequels. Heck, he even kicked his Bosses' ass when he tried to replace him like the others before him.

It just puts the focus away from those guys and onto Vader, if you ask me. I like that alot. All power to the dark lord. Forget about those three other wimps, they were Palpatine's fancy cannon fodder - but nothing more.

"A young jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil - helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi knights." Nothing more - nothing less.

Any early 'bodycount' figures are nothing more than hyped up rumors, imho. Anakin/Vader will have his share of the kill - I am pretty sure of that. But lets talk about this again in may 2005.

the only reason im condemning something i havent seen yet is because this happed with Jar Jar in episode I and i was totally let down... therefore if i think worse the chances are better i may like him...

or just the fact that i will be right when he does suck... lol

Its also because Dooku is going to get the shaft in Ep3, and everything done by GG could of been done by Dooku. Basically we sat through allthat boring set up of Dooku in AOTC and now there will be no pay off and instead we have set up yet another throwaway villian whose origin and motives will be left to the EU to explain.

I can agree on that Rebel Scumb. It would have been nicer to have Dooku throughout the whole movie in EpIII. No one can replace Christopher Lee. Yet I'm still sure I'll enjoy the movie - as well as seeing 'GG' in action.

Lol, that's the mistake that the majority of people made with Episode 1 (I'm expecting some fan boy reaction there, so I'm excluding anyone that had been waiting since 1983 for MORE Star Wars - hehehehe)

The media hype surrounding Ep1 was off the scale & the announcement of a "Cool new villain thats gonaa whoop Jedi @$$" for Ep3, is just going to encite more hype & again lead to bitter disappointment.

My policy is just to accept that its Star Wars (but not as some know/like it) & get swept away with all the eye candy & hopefully kick @$$ fighting!
