GoT Film IV AND V is now released (GoT Score/OST).

I will now prioritize the GoT editions, and then continue the LOTR-scored once. I need to focus on one of the “properties” in order to streamline a good narrative and working environment.

They are in the Google Drive folder - so no need to request a new PM.

REMEMBER! To own the original series. This is made by a fan, for the fans.

It is. But it is also a thrill. I literally get to make awesome films with a lot of depth. An editor’s gift. And hopefully, when i get to the last two seasons (which is soon actually), I will be able to hopefully massively improve them.

In my humble opinion: your fourth installment is perfection! Just watched it. The musical choices made for every scene are perfect. Thank you for that. The following days i’ll watch the fifth movie 😃

Mate, what did you do with the beginning of your fifth movie? How you chose to tell the story where Sansa was in such a brief time is damn brilliant!
5th movie also flawless in my book.

Will be looking forward to what‘ll you do with light of the seven when everything is blown up with wildfire.
Do you already have in mind how to tackle the last two seasons?

Thank you once again, my friend! I am happy my opening caught you by a happy surprise! I wanted the film to begin with a sort of murder mystery vibe.

There will (most likely) be ten films. The sixth one will tackle parts of Season 5 and Season 6, and the seventh one the latter part of Season 6.

Film 8, 9 and 10 will cover the remaining material left over from Season 6 and of course the contents of Season 7 and 8. There are reasons for this.

  1. To give more “meat” to the last two films (/seasons), so as to remove as much fast travel, uninteresting side plots and stupid dialogue as possible.

  2. To create an epic finale worth of three film’s content.

Interesting to do (possibly) ten films for a series with eighth seasons (despite the fact they should have gone with more). You´ll have to get creative with movie titles, i guess 😄 The sixth will be “A Dance with dragons”?, the seventh “Winds of Winter”?, 8-10 “A dream of spring Part 1-3”?^^

I share your reasoning for more movies than seasons, though i´m curious how you´ll expand the travel time between them. Hard task^^.
Any concrete ideas how you´ll structure the finale? Or it is to soon to ask?^^

I finally sat and watched your much anticipated fifth instalment and, I have to say, that you did once again a brilliant job.

I will also compliment on your opening montage of Sansa’s story. The narration with the music and the intermediary scenes were a nice way to catch up with her journey from where we left her in the previous film, leaving out any unnecessary bits.
Overall, I liked that this film focuses mainly on what happens on the North and Beyond the Wall, following Jon in this very important part of his story, while summarizing Tyrion’s journey to Meereen. You also did an exceptional job on “un-cringing” the events in Dorne. That was a major issue for me on Season 5 and I am very happy with what you did.

Again, as in your previous films, the editing and the transitions were flawless. I took the time to make subtitles for this film (not in English though), so I think I took a good glimpse on how you managed some dialouges and plotlines, so once again I applaud your effort. Also, the addition of extra music was a nice touch that gave a more cinematic feel to the film.

If I had to nitpick, I found odd a certain transition somewhere around 01:57 in which Ollena chats with Margaery in King’s Landing and the scene cuts to Dorne. I wonder if that was a choise of yours or a mistake you didn’t notice. I would also have liked to have seen a bit more of the whole Faith Militant thing and what happened to Margaery in this film, but I am not complaining. 3 hours is a perfect runntime for this kind of projects and a man can only fit certain things into one narration.

Once again, great job. I am so grateful for your efforts and I am super pumped about the next instalment.

Thank you so much, my friend. This was a great message to read after a very long and hard week.

The nitpick you mention is actually a very weird one; you see - that is actually there in the original footage. For some reason the editors cut away from The Queen of Thorns and jump to a wide shot of King’s Landing i believe. This do of course work a little bit better as a transition as the scene with Margarey and her take place there, but it was still a very odd transition. My guess is that something about the scene looked wrong in post (one of the actors dropping the mask a little bit too quick perhaps?) and therefore they jump to another scene mid-dialogue. It is a very weird one, and I did as best I could to “make it work”. But yeah, it is a weird one and I am not surprised that was found a little jarring. I would of liked to know myself why this was done.

You will see a lot more of the Faith in the next film, and a lot more Margarey in the film after there again (the seventh).

As you yourself so easily figured out, keeping one 3-hour long narrative is the goal and also the hustle - and therefore, when characters of importance are for instance imprisoned, or held hostage, or kidnapped - or whatever - leaving them for a while also serves to heighten the tension of said events, but also gives me as an editor a great possibility to include other - often more urgent - plot points to emerge or at least start the foreshadowing of upcoming events.

Take Maragery for instance. She is mentioned by name I think thirty times in the upcoming Film - but we only have one scene with her (and the High Sparrow). But in the seventh film, we get her plan to fool the High Sparrow and the Faith Militant because it becomes relevant to the third act of that film. But as for this next one, she is only relevant to two main characters; Tommen and Cersei, and both have a lot going on that I find more important to focus on than Margarey sitting in a cell. So it’s so much trying to balance that I sometimes find myself scratching my head for days, but I have found this approach to work the best having now edited five “film versions” of the seasons.

Woah. That was a long answer, I hope it was satisfying.

And once again, thank you for your very kind words. It is always a huge compliment I do not take for granted when something I edit is appreciated. It makes all the countless hours of a hobby so worth it.

Wow that is really weird, I did not remember that jump-cut in the original episode. But your explanation sounds valid and in that case you couldn’t have done much to improve it.

Yeah, after that explanation leaving Maragery’s story there makes much more sense. And your whole 10-film plan becomes much easier to understand. It also becomes more apparent that your edits are much more than seasons-to-films projects, like smudger9’s Mandalorian films (which I love) or my Stranger Things edits. You basically create a whole new narrative with the material of the show, which is way more complicated and way more admirable.

Damn, I now am even more excited for the next films, which I didn’t think could happen.
Keep up the good work.

« The thing that bugged me the most about the Night Kings death is not so much how it happened its when it happened. I haven’t read the books but the impression i got from watching the show was that you have all these rulers fighting over the throne with the petty bickering and back stabbing. And while all this is going on the real threat to everyone is the mysterious Night King and the white walkers. But, by not having the Night King as the final boss of the show they’re basically saying…nah the show actually is just about fighting over the throne, the Night King and the white walkers was just some under developed side plot that was fairly easily resolved and was ultimately unnecessary the overall plot of the show. If I was to pick out one thing I hated most about the final season it would be this because it retroactively ruins your whole perception of the series right from scene 1 of the show.»

I found this quote on a YouTube video, and found it to perfectly sum up my feelings on why I feel the need to end my GoT franchise on a very dark ending with the Night King winning.

I have already done subtitles for the first 5 films, although in Greek. I have no current plans to do them in English too, but I can share the srt files if anyone wants to work on them. And then we can split the gold.
The subtitles are perfectly synced to Anjohan’s video files and all they will have to do is fill in the dialogues with Engilsh text (I do not suggest Google translate 'cause the result would be atrocious). Which is still not an easy job, but certainly easier than creating a whole new subtitle file.

Okay, I give in! Having seen the entire show, the ending - and other parts beforehand - left me unwilling to go back and watch them again. It didn’t ruin it for me but left an unpleasant taste in my mouth But having seen all the amazing reviews and your own obvious love for the project, I’ve changed my mind!!Hopefully this will make me remember why I loved it in the first place! Anyway, what I mean to say is, could I please have the link so I can start on this epic journey of rediscovered love please?

ADDED FILM VI/FILM 6.

Once again I have to congratulate you on your work for Film 6, my friend.
And once again I have to applaud your skills in storytelling. You don’t just cut and paste scenes from the show, but you use the existing footage to create a new and fresh take on the overall story, making these edits something far more than a simple season-to-film project. Not to mention the additional music that exchanges the whole experience. And I write these things here for anyone unfamiliar with your work to see and take in mind if they choose to watch your edits.

This time, in Film 6, once again I really enjoyed your approach on each character and the parts of their stories you chose to tell, as well as the parts you chose to leave out or use in the next installments.
However, I do have some criticism about the pacing of this film and some suggestions, if you are willing to consider them. Always with much respect to you and your hard work.

CHARACTERS

Starting off with Arya, I think you handled her time in Braavos really well and created a nice and tight arc, leaving her character where you left her. Same with Daenerys and Tyrion and all the events in Meereen, as well as Stannis and the conclusion of his arc.
At Winterfell, I also liked how you handled Sansa and Theon’s story and their escape from the Boltons. Same with the events at Kings Landing regarding the High Sparrow, Maragery and Cersei. As you have previously said, these events make much more sense being in this film than the previous.

As far as Jon Snow, I found your approach bold and I think that it certainly worked. Making him stay dead for the majority of the film, made his comeback way more exciting. However, I do think that you should have started the film with the shot of him lying on the ground at Castle Black, establishing that he is really dead, since that’s how the last film ended. And maybe leave his resurrection for the very end, making it the big shocking event of the film.

And now we come to Bran. Bran’s story was a really special and somewhat confusing part of the show as well, and I have to say that it didn’t really work for me in this film. I assume that it wasn’t easy to put him back in the whole narrative after his long absence and I did like the way you covered all the events we missed, similar to what you did with Sansa in Film 5. But I also think that in the way you chose to tell his story you didn’t make creal who the Three Eyed Raven and the Children of the Forest are or why Bran is staying with them or what their whole purpose is. That being said, I also don’t really know what you could have done differently. Maybe include a bigger “flashback” covering the whole scene of Bran and the gang finding the Three Eyed Raven, or put that scene back in Film 4 where we last saw them. I know that there is the issue of the recast, but I guess the story is more important than a new face.
One thing that I am certain about is that you should have introduced Bran way earlier in the film and not around the middle of it. His whole arc felt like it was interrupting the film and by the end I don’t know if it accomplished the impact it was supposed to accomplish.

Anyway, I don’t know what your feelings are about this edit and if you are willing to make some changes on it, but this small complaint of mine certainly does not take away anything from the marvelous work you have done throughout this series.
My excitement remains on the roof and I am super looking forward to what you will do next.

Thank you once again for your honest and kind review, with a perfect bland of constructive criticism and honesty. I am thrilled to hear that this entry also worked for you, and that the enjoyment factor is high.

As I’ve stated before, the motivation comes from people like you who enjoy my edits and fill me with energy and passion for the project. And also give suggestions! I always love suggestions, and ideas for upcoming edits (and existing ones) are never too late!

And the compliment of these films being more than tv-to-film and being different experiences, is exactly what I strive to achieve and it is the biggest compliment for these films I could’ve received. Thank you.

RESPONSE TO SUGGESTIONS:

As for your one gripe with mentioned character (unnamed for spoiler purposes), I do see where you are coming from and I am absolutely considering changing it because of your shared passion and knowledge of films and narrative.

When I edit these films I always watch the final film with my girlfriend before I upload, and for her and for me it worked. This does definitely not mean that it works for anyone else, and all your points I find valid.

The “unnamed character”‘s narrative is indeed a sudden addition to what is else a constructed and hopefully gripping Film 6 narrative, and the exclusion of the Season 4 meeting with the “man in the tree” (spoiler purposes) is indeed to exclude what I see as two awful continuity errors (children and the man).

From films 3 to 6, I always felt that it was very obvious what “unnamed character’s” purpose was - especially in dialogue from film
3 and 4 - so that the scene I mentioned from season 4 actually served little to no purpose.

Also, “unnamed character’s” story continues with more scenes in Film 7 - in what I think is a very gripping opening scene.

And as for your opening suggestion, it was my original opening. I understand where you are coming from, and I will update the film and re-arrange that. I realize this is the better opening.

As for the narrative change with your suggested cliffhanger, that was my original narrative. But because of major events and the runtime of film 7, it is not feasible to do this, and therefore this character’s arc is complete in this film - at the watch. I also find the character’s absence - and surprise (spoiler purposes) - to work very well even though it is not prolonged as to be the ultimate film 6 cliffhanger.
