Since you wandered into European terriory already, then my favorite is Mis (Teddy Bear) by S. Bareja, who is responsible for making the best of Polish comedies in 70s/80s. Too bad he is no longer among us...

To illustrate the peculiar sense of humor that was required to survive "the previous system" - example:

A guy goes through customs at the airport after getting back to the country. Customs officer asks him about his weight.
- ...? 122 pounds.
- That's odd, when you were leaving you weighted 125...
- Well, I've lost some weight and...
- That will be 30...
- What?
- Ten for each pound lost, isn't it simple?
- But why...?
- And what do you think? You get back with few pounds less, if everybody would do so, there would be less citizens here, in our fair country! Education?
- ...I've got a degree in...
- That makes 60.
- ???
Customs officer shows him a big banner saying "Each pound of educated citizen is the biggest asset of our Nation!"

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Quite Pythonesque.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

hey but asterix and obelix had that cool reference to star wars, with that dart vader like character. so hilarious.
and there's something i've been wondering for quite a while: why do Americans remake successful European movies? couldn't they just dub them or subtitle them like we do here with US movies? i mean, it worked for "amelie", so why didn't they also do it for "birdcage" or "la totale" (= "true lies") for example?

I must agree with many mentioned here so far:
Monty Python- Holy Grail
Monty Python- Life of Brian
Spaceballs
Blazing Saddles

Well, let me add some:
1. Any movie involving cross-dressing, and the efforts made in protecting the 'secret' are usually very amusing. 2 movies come to mind: Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie.
Mrs. Doubtfire: Twas the drink that killed him...
Miranda: How awful, he was an alcoholic?
Mrs. Doubtfire: No, he was hit by a Guinness truck.

2. Monty Python's the Meaning of Life- Yes, its raunchy, disgusting, and thoroughly detestible at times, but the fat man and his 'wafer thin mint' was great.

3. How is it no one mentioned the original Lampoon, Animal House!!
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

and I watched some Fernandel movies when I was younger, but I don't really remember them. still, I know they made me laugh, so they must be good. ummh...I should really try to see them again.

I would have to agree with SES that Office Space is a great movie. Never fails to crack me up.
