I wouldn't be so sure of that. Anyway, going by what has surfaced about the September 12 release thus far, I'll hold off on this one and wait and see what the 2007 set brings. I won't really enjoy Star Wars again until I can patch together my own edition anyway, and in the end I won't be surprised if I end up with no better sources to make my own edit other than the X0 project and the 2004 DVD.

I've always wanted to make up my own edit, too.

But, eh, I'm too lazy.

That, and other projects have taken up so much of my year, that it's going to be a looooong time before I even think of taking on a new project.

So, for better or worse, the Sept 12 release is it for me.

A mega box set? Unless Lucasfilm can pull off a great Alien Quadrilogy-esque set, I would much rather see them focus on giving each film a great release.

Now, the industry standard for a great special edition usually runs 3+ discs per film. I personally won't be happy until each film of the OOT gets 4.

For me to shell out the big bucks for this boxset, it would have to include a free landspeeder!

There is only two scenes I would love to see restored, and they are: the scene at the beginning of ROTJ where luke constructs a new saber and most of all I would love for the sandstorm scene from ROTJ to be restored into the movie. Out of all the deleted scenes I wish this one had not been cut.

Has it ever been confirmed that the lightsaber construction scene was actually shot?

Thanks for that. I always thought that particular un-used matte painting was supposed to precede the sandstorm scene. Very interesting. I wonder if anyone has ever asked Mark Hamill if he ever shot any footage for the lightsaber scene.

It's no secret. Last year, there was a bonus disc with the ROTS soundtrack at Target when the ROTS DVD was released. It was a collection of music from all 6 of the films. I don't have it with me here right now, but I distinctly remember the the Star Wars cues being mixed in the current Williams/Murphy aesthetic: drenched in reverb. It was especially noticable in "Imperial Attack" when compared to the SE album. Sadly, I think this may be a sign of things to come.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.
