Frink's Digital Diorama [was: OT Deleted Scene Restoration Project?] — Page 3

My motivation for this project is the "Jerjerrod's Conflict" deleted scene. Particularly the build of tension as the Death Star II prepares to fire upon Endor. I would love to incorporate this into a Return of the Jedi fan edit, but the clip is in pretty bad shape.

I don't have any special tools like PFClean (and from the looks of it, I don't have the thousands of dollars needed to purchase the software). I might just have to do my best cleaning it up frame by frame in Photoshop.

Unfortunately, no.

To make matters worse, the hard drive I had the deleted scene files on is officially dead, so I'll need to "acquire" those again.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I'm from Germany and have no time to read all old post here, so sorry if I talk about something, that has been already discussed.

I want to make just a Bonus-Disc with Deleted scenes to the original theatrical version of the trilogy. As DVD and/or Blu Ray.

Can someone recreate the deleted Jabba Scene from "a new hope" with the actor Declan Mulholland in HD? The available version of a reconstruction made by Jambe Davdar for his documentary "Star Wars Begins" is bad because you can see the stencils and the quality differences of the sources, also the color correction is bad and the aspect ration is wrong:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCdZ11BM-6Y

The documentary "From Star Wars to Jedi", which is only available on VHS in US and UK and Laserdisc in Japan, contains the half scene in 4:4 aspect ration. And the sound is also not complete, Mark Hamil, as the main narrator, is talking about the scene while it is showing.

And I also want to see the final version from 1997 in HD, with and without original cinema subtitles. If someone needs some source, I have a DVD Transfer from a 1997 German Laserdisc, with original German cinema subtitles.

I have no material to reconstruct the Jabba scene, only a DVD-Transfer of the 1997 German Laserdisc, the bad reconstruction in the youtube version, the official DVD and Blu Ray and the UK VHS "From Star Wars to Jedi".

If someone could send me all existing material, in a good untouched version as it originally was broadcast or published somewhere (TV, VHS, Laserdisc)  from the scene with Declan Mulholland, in the best available quality, that would be great.

I would try to made a better reconstruction with the apple program "Final Cut Pro 7", but first someone have to send me the material.

I would try to make it like Harmy described how he made his despecialised reconstruction of the movie in this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHfLX_TMduY

I hope someone can soon help me with my project.

I can't email a diorama!

You built a diorama, physically? I was talking of digital video editing/restoration! xD

Oh, well, I could probably do that too, but you'll be able to tell the difference.

I'll get back to you.

So what do you mean then with diorama?

A part of an editing-software, some kind of project-file?

No, I meant a physical model.  I'm saying I can probably do it over as a digital model, but it won't look as real.

I also have to check with my Dad, because it's his computer.

What is a diorama if it's not what I think? I don't know much about the digital world, I just make a training/education as Cutter on a German private-school.

How can you ask for something you don't understand?

Ah, ok! But why? I wanted digital video-files. Or did you make the model to be filmed, to recreate the digital Jabba's moves, so we can delete him better?

Why would we delete Jabba?  He's the best part!

My plan was to put back the actor and recreate the non digital version, the original shoot from 1977. Why do you make a model?

My Dad made me do it.  I don't even like Star Wars, except for Jabba and that Binks guy.

It might be possible to edge closer to the actor sampling background details from other frames.

You may be able to get an impression of more detail on the actor and his costume itself.

These details might even be mapped to a digital model.

Ultimately the effect will be limited and will probably look odd.

Unless Lucas releases the actual footage it's going to remain a collage of some kind and look strange in SD let alone HD.

So should I take this mean that this topic is dead then? Finding a way to clean up the deleted scenes are off the table?

You guys got my hopes up! Especially with fan editing possibilities. Oh well, maybe I can make a fan film with the scenes, and intentionally make the rest of the movie look old and dated.
