For TRoS Edits: Dialogue for the Knights of Ren! Come help! (Released) — Page 2

I love this! Totally does a lot to make the KoR even the slightest bit more interesting, which adds a lot. Even if it is only a few lines, I could see this adding that “Boba Fett” appeal to the characters. I like the voice a lot, too. My favorites go as follows.

1. The first option is my favorite, as it sets up the teeth line best.
2. I like the Palpatine option, to keep his villainous presence constant in the film. They have enough personal character beats in the other clips.
3. I liked the traitorous scum bit.
4. Join your father is dark and great. I like the allusions to them being his old buddies and saying Ben.
5. I think what how is the only one that really works there.

Well, it is nice to have one coherent thread for an idea that doesn’t go into critiquing the films and off topic stuff. If anything, I wish there were more threads like this one.

For this project, we’ll be giving four Knights voices. Who’s speaking is based on who is the focal point of each shot. I’m a bit unhappy about having to use a new Knight for the two final lines, but they simply show different Knights than were focused on earlier.

We’re recording a few options for different scenes so that Fan Editors have their pick of which lines they specifically would like to include in their edits. If you feel like you’ve got a great idea for a new line, go for it!

Please record yourself doing whichever lines you would like in a normal, but tense voice. Do not attempt to speak deep or low, just be as serious as you can be. If you want to record for all four knights, great! If you only want to try one of them, that works too! Krausfadr and I will decide which to keep after I have applied effects to all of them.

Due to the distorted nature of these voices, you do not need the greatest microphone ever for this project. That being said, please record without background noise, and please create lossless files (like a .WAV) and upload them to Google Drive. Then PM me with a downloadable link.

Sounds great! Would you mind recording Kuruk’s other lines? We’re trying to keep the voices consistent, and it seems like you recorded one of Kuruk’s lines and a new suggestion, but not all of them. In order for Krausfadr and I to pick who fits best for each Knight, we’d need you to send in each line (with multiple takes, if that’s all right).

This is a great idea! We might need a different line then. Hmm. Maybe one of them says the line, and then I can stack everyone saying “Never again” as a response?

Personally I feel it would be awesome if more POC voiced main characters in SW (like the Knights of Ren) and not using ridiculous stereotypical bullshit voices like jar jar. If it’s possible we could really use a diverse sounding set of voices for the KoR.

I second. Since we are following the fan-canon and pretend the Knights of Ren are Luke’s former padawans, they sure should have a diverse set of accents and voice tones.

I don’t think they should ever refer to Kylo as Kylo Ren. They are all Knights of Ren, so the Ren is implied.

Anyway, I think the fact that Ben doesn’t say a word during the final confrontation is an issue, if we have the other knights constantly talking to him. He should have some sort of one word response to “What? How?/That’s not fair.” when he does his nod. Do you think it would work with his existing lip movements (or rather lack thereof)?

KoR: “What? Is that Skywalker’s lightsaber?”

Ben: “Yup.”

Something like that.

I had initially thought the same thing and was only referring to him as “Kylo”, but someone pointed out that he’s never referred to as such, so it would be like calling Obi-Wan “Obi”
