Flac files...a little help needed!

Ok so I'm gonna sound like a complete newb here but......

Say I want to d/l an album and it's in a flac file. Do I just need to d/l some codecs or a standalone player to listen to them? And can I burn Flac files to a cd using nero 6, or do I need to convert them to say, mp3?

Either way, any info would be most grateful and any FREE recommendations for programs if needed?

I would look myself, but time is sparse at the moment (new baby an' all) and the album is for the missus...help her relax at night while feeding.

You just need to download the FLAC installer (and install it). It contains a plugin for nero so you can burn FLAC files directly. I always use winamp to play the files.
