Starting a new thread from https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Info-Films-re-released-with-alterations/id/50111/page/1

The link below will have the titles with links to movie-censorship, etc., detailing any different cuts, and will be constantly updated. Titles would be welcome. Most obvious inclusions are the STAR WARS OG Original Trilogy, and Prequel Trilogy.

Fantasia has had various versions throughout the years. The original roadshow cut was trimmed down for general audiences. It was the widely available version until 2000 when the longer cut was recreated with some alterations.

All I need are the titles, movie-censorship links, and maybe even more links. Not going to make it a long winded first post as the other user had. Tanks berry much.

Sorry about that.

It’s cool! I searched and Fantasia doesn’t seem to have alternate cuts/etc. listed. So perhaps a different site is needed which illustrates the differences.
Even though certain films may be bombarded with links in the Letterboxd list, would be best to have them where it ought to be.

Added to the Letterboxd list and the link to the title.
Back to the Future sort of counts but that was only on Home Video versions aka VHS, not the cinema release.

The Godfather trilogy 4K changes:

The Godfather:
-all optical texts digitally recreated, they’re mostly identical but still look a bit different (however what’s nice is the original Paramount logo was restored to the end, for the first time since VHS)

The Godfather Part II:
-all optical texts digitally recreated, they’re mostly identical but still look a bit different, however the opening “A Paramount Picture” credit is changed entirely to a different font and says “Paramount Pictures Presents” (however what’s nice is at least the original Paramount logo is restored to the end for the first time since the 2001 DVD)
-The 4K version shortens a shot that was meant to be a reel change and intentionally was extended by two seconds or so to accommodate but for reasons the reel change was moved somewhere else and the 2 seconds were left in, they appeared on every past home video release including the 2007 BD, but they were taken out for the 4K version
https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=311098

The Godfather Part III:
-recut twice for home video, initially for the 1991 VHS as the “final director’s cut”, where it was extended from 162 minutes to 170 minutes, all home video releases before the 4K were based off of this cut
-the second recut was done in 2020 and retitled to “The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone”, it’s the shortest running at 157 minutes and has some portions re-arranged as well
https://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=610 (comparison between the theatrical and 1991 cut though note that this is in German and despite the TV broadcast being based off of the theatrical cut, is still cut for violence and such)
https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=785871 (comparison between the 1991 cut and Coda)

the theatrical cut never got a home video release until it was released as a bonus feature alongside the 1991 cut on the 4K set

I really don’t need any of that. Just links, i.e. movie-censorship, to add to the films on the Letterboxd list. I’m streamlining this. Also will add The Saga Cut to the links for The GodFather Parts I & II.
I WILL add the links, of course. Thanks!

Can you at least add for the theatrical and 1991 cut comparison that it’s in German and the broadcast despite being based off of the theatrical cut is still edited for violence and such?

Corrected your typo. I would but this isn’t Blu-ray.com. This forum doesn’t even have the proper tools to do what I’d even want to do anyway. I did put the link to the original thread in the first post so text references are there, albiet it has some out of date information.
Letterboxd is fine, especially with how I have the List linked.

AND how was I able to double quote when this forum doesn’t have the feature? Copy pasting.

MAD MAX 2’s 4K release opted to use a new Dobly Atmos Sound Mix. Im a purist, and prefer the Dobly Stereo sound mix, though I will say their heart is in the right place to try to make this action packed film sound awesome, however in doing so, some things are lost. The music was prominent in the Dobly Stereo and eventually the 5.1 mix. This new 7.1 Atmos and regular Remixed 7.1 track drowns out the music. Not to mention in tradition with other remixes that try to make the film sound better, the sound effects are replaced/changed. Initial releases of this edition also included the “Original Stereo”(That was a lie and was just a 2.0 down mix of the 7.1!). Later releases quickly fixed this.
I understand it must be a challenge to take analog sound and digitally get the same result. So many small details! Scratching, hissing, and popping on the audio is not what was intended. Film and Video Tape deteriorate like crazy.

This post is also being submitted to a sound mix discussion.
