Just curious, does anyone know if there's been an attempt to colour correct the awful green tint on the Fellowship of the Ring Extended BD?  I've been looking for something like this for a while now.

Thanks!  But that's way to complicated for me. :)

If anyone has a link where I can get a CC version of this, please by all means PM me...with much gratitude.

I don't think he ever encoded it. It's just a guide with information on how to fix it yourself.

Doesn't seem too bad! I may give it a shot actually.  I was using MakeMKV to rip my Blu Rays to MKV....do you guys know of another program? Perhaps free or less than 50 bucks lol?  Sorry for off topic.

No offense against OMEN but his version doesn't correct the teal shift and other color timing changes done to that release.

We'll see in the future if I'll revisit my fix since I now have selectivecolour for avisynth which is better than the method I used back then.

By the way, thanks guys for the info on the aspect ratio of T2. That WMV-HD version is too compressed for my taste though.

It really is, if the UK disc was the theatrical cut then it would be the one to go for.

Here you go: http://www.sendspace.com/file/gfl33n

It's both the script and curve file. Though it's way outdated by now but I haven't had the time to make a new version.

And I gotta point out that for my render I remuxed the m2ts files to mkv first.

Excellent!  thank you You_Too

I want to try a section of the movie see how it turns out.

So you think it could be tweaked more then? That would be interesting to see down the road.

@DoomBot: I'm 100% sure it can be tweaked more to look even better.

Back then after balancing out the green shift, all I could do to correct what was left was using avisynth's built-in "tweak".

Since I helped Harmy with the color correction of the Star Wars BD, I've had the excellent plugin selectivecolour by Darth Editous which mimics the behaviour of the Photoshop standard plugin with the same name. It allows for a much nicer color correction.

We might have to revisit Fellowship then and do it right lol, I would not mind doing this, maybe later after we finish the 100 projects we got going now lol.

Yeah I'll gladly do it sometime later when all the other stuff is done.

And I actually got a pm from Nick66 earlier, he said he's heard that iTunes has a 1080p version without the green tint. I would love to see some shots of this to see exactly how it differs from the blu-ray. Maybe somebody else here knows?

Author

Verrry doubtful.  Every few weeks on AVS somebody claims to have somehow gotten a Blu-ray without the green tint.  The difference is not in the video, it's in the viewer's ability to discern the problem.  I'm nearly positive it's the same "difference" with the iTunes version.

Yeah I know it's easy for rumors to start but I'd still like to see some shots just to be sure.

Well then i look forward to seeing a revised script, when you guys have completed all the other projects of course. Not trying to rush you guys into anything. I know how busy you all are and i respect all that you're doing.

Thanks guys!

By the way, about the Jurassic Park 3D/2D re-release: Have it actually been released on blu-ray anywhere yet?

Because first I see these shots from the new trailer: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/universal/jurassicpark3d/gallery/

They can be downloaded in full resolution and while there is DVNR to some degree, I think at the same time the detail looks great and the colors are amazing.

Then I look at these: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=14318
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=14319

Are they from the new blu-ray? (The ones on mouse-over) If so, something must be insanely wrong because while it's obviously from the same master as the trailer, there's more DVNR and also a strong green tint.

I would really like to know what the source is for the JP comparisons.  Apart from the DNR on the 3D version, which is indeed bad, and the fact it seems very bright, I actually quite like the colors.

A film that I want with the original colors and the original aspect ratio is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  I don't hate the color on the BD, but I prefer the way the film looks here in the screenshot at the bottom.  It's one of the few instances in which I prefer the version that looks more cyan.

That is really horrid DNR. The bluray looks great, I need to get that soon.

Yeah, the old blu-ray release is great. But the colors in the shots in that iTunes gallery are probably even closer to theatrical than the slightly pink tinted old blu-ray.

I said on the last page my importers are shipping the new JP disc.

The DCP versions have the DNR and the new colour timing

Superman is horridly obvious. A teal costume????? WTF??

At least with Blade Runner it was a creative decision by the whole restoration team and the director's personal choice. And the original versions were not altered. When watching the FC it isn't a big nagging issue. And the BDs should be redone because they are only BD25s with outdated codecs. The 35mm Final Cut was and is stunning and has none of the BD's issues. (I would know. I saw it eight times. In a week.)

Eight times in a week!  Wow!  That's more showings than there are days.

I don't like the new color of Superman's costume either.  Apart from that, though, I like the look of the theatrical BDs of I and II, and the costume's an easy fix with selectivecolour() and Avisynth.  I don't care much about III and IV.

It's been a while since I've popped in my BR:FC blu... but I don't remember it being obvious or badly done.  I guess it's kind of like the new ALIENS blu; I don't mind the teal shift if it's not too far, and if the majority of the scenes take place in artificial lighting.  The entirety of ALIENS and pretty much BLADE RUNNER take place in artificial environments(so I just chalk it up to fluorescent lighting).

When you mention that the 35mm FC has none of the blu-ray issues, are you speaking of the teal color shift?

This is true, the DNR was on the bluray only
