Hm. Fair enough.
Hm. Fair enough.
Here’s the bit about The Revenant.
I’ve been joking that “The Revenant” would have been no worse had it been shot in a studio, using a green screen to paint the landscapes in behind the actors—or if, in lieu of DiCaprio dragging his body through frozen terrain and dipping it in frigid rivers, the movie had been made on location with stunt men with DiCaprio’s face digitally applied, as was done with Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” But the joke is unfair—the movie would likely have actually turned out better had it been made that way, because the artifices of a studio production and its digital contrivances would have pushed Iñárritu outside his narrow aesthetic ideology regarding physical reality and spiritual redemption. Escaping the self-imposed limits of climatic and theatrical rigors alike might have sparked his imagination.
.
Sounds pretty reasonable honestly.
Inarritu has a very inflated ego.
Thoughts?
He sounds like this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky9-eIlHzAE
I do not agree on most of the article.
However, who wrote this has some things very clear, things that are rather uncomfortable truths specially to our forum community:
-PT is (judging pure visuality) better framed and composited than ANH
-Anakin’s journey is Faustian.
-John William’s score is musically brillant, but yes, it quite underlines the moments a lot. I keep thinking of the self-undoing ball of wool Tornatore frames in Cinema Paradiso, when the protagonist comes back home after 30 years. That shot, if I remember right, has almost no music. The message is still there, but not emphatized. What whoever wrote this seemed not to know, however, is that Star Wars is designed as a myth. And yes, myths do tell people what to thing or how to feel, because they have been and still are an educational tool to every society.
-That’s why star wars is mainly audiovisual.
-That’s why no one expects a Star Wars movie to have too much dialogue about politics.
And that’s where Lucas failed.
-Anakin’s journey is Faustian.
Except for the part where it’s terribly done.

Is that relevant to what Gandalf said? Think long and hard now (no homo).
I’m not saying it isn’t Faustian.
And nice slur.

What slur, homo?
Ah, “no u”. A true classic.
But really though, I’m just messing around, no hard feelings.

What the hell are you talking about?

I dunno.

Knock it off right now. I won’t warn you again.

Where were you in '77?
?
How is the usage of “no homo” to simply state that I didn’t intend something to be read certain way, a slur?
I’m not being negative towards homosexuals.
It’s still a slur that can easily be misconstrued no matter the context it’s used in. Kindly stop it.

Will do.
I couldn’t make it through that article. What an embarrassment for the New Yorker to have to be forever associated with such nonsense. I can’t help but think it’s trolling because of the part describing the “unlimited power” line as something to cheer for. It reminds me of a critic on rotten tomatoes who gave every Star Trek film a negative review except for Star Trek V: the Final Frontier, saying, “Who knew it just needed William Shatner in the director’s seat to breathe new life to the franchise” or something like that, which just has to be a fraudulent joke.

I posited this on FE but it’s worth repeating here…is it possible we’ve finally seen the first published work from that room of typewriting monkeys?

For the record, the best Trek films are 1, 5, and 10.
Such a troll it’s not even funny anymore…if it ever was.
Oh come on. The Motion Picture, The Final Frontier, and Nemesis are not bad movies.
It’s certainly not as outrageous of a claim as my love for ROTS.

It never was but it’s still much better than this
