Feedback Wanted: ROTS - The narration cut

Hey everybody. If you haven’t seen the Film noir edit thread, please do so. There’s a great project happening in there. That project involves re-editing the entire movie, changing the story, it’s a true re-imagining. the most interesting aspect is the hard-boiled voice over that Anakin will have. A suggestion was made that some stuff from the novelization be used as some of the narration. This led me to read the book again, and i love loads of stuff that was in there.

I would like to do a very minor re-edit of ROTS, nothing like the Film Noir edit, which I still want to help with, but I would like to add narration for Anakin to the film as it is. I think this could bring out a lot of good stuff that the actors (and the director) couldn’t convey.

Here’s the plan:

*Use ADM ROTS edit as a basis (I consider this the best version available.)
*Change very minor things that annoy me (a little bit of the editing in the Sidious/Windu fight, some bad dialogue, etc.) Nothing big, or anything that would change the storyline at all.
*A New narration would be written using the novelization as its basis. Things would be rephrased into the first person, as if they were Anakin’s thoughts. This will only be where i think it’s needed and/or applicable. This will require a voice over actor, somebody taht does a good Anakin voice, or somebody that can just deliver it well.

Let me know what you guys think, and again, if you havent checked out the star wars film noir thread, please do. It’s gonna blow you all away.

I'm always looking to trade my edits, if you don't want to get them from a torrent. PM or e-mail!

Maybe you should get Trooperman to do the voiceover, since he's 'playing' Anakin in his SOTDS

I certainly wouldn't mind doing the voice. The problem is that my voice is nowhere close to Hayden's, so you would have to dub my actual dialogue into the film as well. Which would make this.... a sequel to SOTDS

But that's probably not what you had in mind....

Actually, TM, it might be a good thing to have a recording of you doing all of Hayden's dialogue in ROTS. Just in the event that a true sequel to SOTDS never gets made; then someday somebody could at the least add your voice into ROTS and leave all else as is. This would at the very least be watchable alongside SOTDS.

I agree, but this is up to you Trooperman.

That isn't a bad idea. Record all of the Ep. III dialogue in one shot, before any kind of editing, for safety's sake. And burn hard copies. That way, should anything happen with me personally, or if I become disinterested in doing any more Star Wars editing for the time being, then the material will be there to create a compatible film. I can't do this until SOTDS is completely wrapped up, though.

On the same note, Sluggo's team of ADR actors might record all of the planned dialogue for Ep. I and III in the series as well, just for safety's sake. They did really a very good job, and it'd be a shame if anything happened before all the dialogue was recorded.

Sorry for the off-topic conversation, Spence!
