Whatever alterations are done I don't think reverse speech should ever be used as an alien language. It's too lazy and just sounds like reverse speech (something most people recognise).

If you look at the shape of the Gungan mouth the shape of the neck and the general body shape it should be possible to come up with a voice that fits if they are speaking Human or Gungan.

It makes sense that Gungans should speak Gungan when talking only to other Gungans but most of the time they are speaking to humans or within their company. It might add to the drama if they sometimes spoke Gungan with humans around to imply a level of secrecy.

I wouldn't go down the route of Magnoliafan though as action orientated high dialogue movies don't lend to too many subtitles.

Lucas was wise not to give Yoda an alien language track as it would have dragged ESB down to a crawl.

i don't think we need subs in other to tell what they are saying, we can simply just tell by their gestures what is going on

That's true too it all depends on what mood and how much information you want to disclose.

You may want to stick in subs to let the audience know  for sure they don't trust the humans in the room or you may want to leave it open ended so the audience is as unsure as the other humans.

Subs are a good way of replacing redundant dialogue with new and potential story building material but yes they aren't necessary all the time (Chewie and Artoo did well without them).

I like the idea of the Gungans speaking Gunganese to each other, and English to the humans. It would also make dubbing a lot easier since I wouldn't have to write English dialogue around the lip movement in those parts, and could just string together some Gungish/Gunganese jibberish words that match the lip movements. And as stated, it would imply a level of mistrust between the Gungans and Humans. I suppose that whether or not subtitles would be used in those parts would depend on how well the scenes read without knowing what the Gungans are saying.

Im for that idea.  It would give a sense of mysteriousness and untrustworthyness to them. 

Id still rather take out alot of un-necessary gungan scenes though.

If I did a cut, I would still cut down on some of the scenes-- namely, removing as much of Jar Jar's slapstick as the story allows for (no dinner table antics or icky poodoo incidents). However, Jar Jar and co. be cut down a bit less than in The Phantom Edit, because there'd only be stupid physical mannerisms to worry about instead of that on top of irritating voices.

if you ever get another chance of redubbing that first scene this is the kind of dialog i thought of on my spare time that might fix the shitty dialog (mesa) and make jar jar a lot more tolerable

that's the idea i have so far.  as you can see i just changed the dialog so it isn't that far off from the original dialog and with a good voice actor with the right accent or no accent, jarjar might come out a whole lot better character than he is now.
