Favorite 80s TV shows!

I may not have grown up in the 80s but all my favorite movies, shows and music are from that time period (70s too); this thread is for 80s TV! If you lived in the 80s, what did you love watching then? What are you still watching today? If you’re in my boat, what do you wish you’d gotten to see first-run? Some of my favorites (though there’s MANY) are Knight Rider, A-Team, Buck Rogers, Facts of Life, Alf, Fame… list goes on but I’ll save stuff for others to say!

You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll kiss three bucks goodbye!

Gonna have to say Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s mostly a '90s show, but it’s still the only show that began in the '80s I really consider a favourite. Garfield and Friends is perhaps a distant second.

Gods for some, miniature libertarian socialist flags for others.

Even though it hasn’t really aged all that well i would say Star Trek The Next Generation.

Flash Gordon Filmation
and He-Man filmation

Thundercats

Transformers first two seasons and the movie only.

I watched all those shows you mentioned in the first post including Airwolf and Dukes of Hazzard i wouldn’t actually watch them all now. Including Magnum PI and Macguyver.

I agree on Thundercats and Transformers being awesome, they have aged surprisingly well. But pretty much everything that Filmation produced back then is an absolute abomination. Watching even short clips from He-Man makes me want to off myself.

In terms of 80s animated series, though, the best was clearly on the Japanese side. Macross/Robotech, Gundam, Urusei Yatsura, Dirty Pair, I could go on. Back then, anime was actually intended for normal people, not weirdo fetishists who have never seen sunlight in years.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

The Cosby Show is my favorite. I grew up with it, despite being born in 2001.

Star Trek TNG is my second favourite 80s show, though not my favorite Star Trek.

Ashita no Joe II - it turns out that doing an anime adaptation several years after a manga is finished produces better results. Also, the animation isn’t as sloppy as the ‘70s version.

If it has to be a live-action show, then I’ll pick Michael Palin’s Around the World in 80 Days documentary.

You know i watched a bit of TNG remastered even the season 1 has a certain charm, No it isn’t the best but it is recognizably Star Trek. But yeah the design is dated 80s. But it is obviously of the same family as TOS and TMP.

I don’t recognize these characters in the CBS/Paramount post 2005 period of Trek.

Quantum Leap was a fun watch. Cheers too, which is a little odd as I don’t enjoy sitcoms that much.

TNG was a must watch back then.
