Would love this as well. In the beginning, it was a downloadable iTunes Extra. Now, it’s only a streaming iTunes Extra.
I have the DVD, I can try to do an upscale but not really worth it if an HD version is already out in the wild someplace.

I’ve been meaning to do my own edit of this. I have the mpeg-4 blu-ray disc release and was going to cut in the itunes version where necessary.

Did anyone ever do this? I bought the movie on iTunes and have been trying to record it with OBS but the recording comes out choppy. I’ve tried to record in various frame rates and they turn out choppy. Any help with that would be appreciated?

How are you able to get to this from your iTunes purchase? When Apple originally offered this as an iTunes Extra when buying the main film, it was a separate download. However, after some time, they made it streaming only (but if you had bought it prior to that cutoff date, it would still be a downloadable file for you).

I have the DVD burned as an ISO file, but when I try to do an upscale burn to an MKV it always stops at the 50 minute mark.
I’d love to find a way to get an HD copy of this though. Loved the EE of this movie.

Disney has been putting some of their films on other platforms lately. Apparently HBO Max had the extended version of Fantastic Four in 2020. I can’t find it on the UK version. Shame, I’ve been trying to find extended versions of all the 2000s pre-MCU films where they exist.
Most are very easy to track down, except for FF:EE. I have the DVD, but that is in standard definition. I want that crisp HD.

If you still have access to the HD version of the extended cut I could try to help rip it with OBS
I’m very late to finding this thread but if you’re recording with OBS as a last resort, I would recommend using 60FPS. Mismatched framerates get less noticeable at higher framerates. I also think you might be able to use mpdecimate to get rid of the duplicate frames, though I haven’t tried it myself.
Also you need a decent GPU/CPU to handle the encoding. Your build not being good enough for high quality recording might be a reason for the choppiness.

OBS could work then do some touch ups in premiere. You have to purchase it to get the extras. Renting only lets you watch the theatrical
