Hello. I have recently digitized my copy of the 1991 VHS release of Fantasia for use in my reconstruction of the original roadshow of the movie. Now, I’ve just come up with an idea for an uncensored version of the 1990 re-release. However, there’s only one problem. According to Disney Wiki, the VHS version of Fantasia is 120 minutes long (2 hours) while the 1990 re-release is only 115 minutes long (1 hour, 55 minutes), just like its basis, the 1946 re-release. What made the 1991 VHS version be five minutes longer than the 1990 re-release? If any of you know, that would be great. Thank you.

Nothing to worry about. The Fantasia on the 1990 reissue and 1991 VHS releases are one and the same, both running at about 119 minutes. Unless the theatrical reissue prints were played at 25fps instead of the intended 24, I’m not sure why someone would note that they ran 5 minutes faster than the VHS, because they most certainty did not. Disney, too, noted this on their anthology box set from 2000, and it is simply not correct.

Okay, thanks for the information.
