My son was born on 21 december, which to all the hippys out there (my missus and her sister being two of them) is the winter solstice. So we are trying for a next child to be born on 21 june..summer solstice. Now that would be cool..especially if it's a girl


Also, if I were single and had no kids, reading some of these posts above would kind of put me off...a little.. as said, untill you have children, you really don't know what your missing.

Why am I not surprised to see AWK posting yet again in a thread where he isn't wanted, and has nothing worthwhile to contribute. Story of your life, eh?

As for myself, my wife and I married at 20 and 25, and it'll be 10 years this June. We have a girl, 4, and a boy, 2 this April. We have a 4-bedroom home with a large backyard, a car, minivan, and motorhome. We are both elementary school teachers (she started a few years after I did). We met in college, and I was smitten with her from the day I saw her - though we didn't date until a few months later. I had a live-in girlfriend in my apartment with 2 other guys at the time, and I was too embarrased to ask her out anyways (though I walked her to class every day.)

We tend to agree on most things, with a few reasonable differences here and there. Despite us both being Leos (she's July 23, I'm July 27, my older sister is July 26, my father-in-law is July 29), we rarely have fights, and even then, it's over quickly and we cool off for a few hours to a day.

She knows I'm a geek, but I'm good at fixing stuff, and I do my fair share of household chores. We've really become homebodies, and would like to go out and do more, but we had kids later than all of our friends - and our best friends have moved out of state. Not that we mind sitting home with the kids and watching TIVO, but we're looking forward to using the camper more when our little boy is up for long trips.

We like our married life. It's been very good to us.

i hear ya there. we do try getting out at least once a month.. we are due.. it's a good thing valentine's day is coming up. we might head up to dallas or something. i want to go check out the art museums.

The pregnancy thing has really thrown any of our relaxation time for a loop. Either she hasn't felt well, we've both been stressed out or some catastrophe is occuring... it gets a bit overwhelming at times. Not to mention we run our own office where her productivity is directly responsible for our combined income so having less energy to work can be costly.

I used to love chaos and love change but as I've gotten older stability and peaceful days seem more and more attractive.

We had significant arguments over this about 2 months ago. She is in the middle of a very stressful time for her state teacher's license, so she's up at all hours working, which means we have no time to do anything together. I told her that I do miss the times when we first got together and it was just us, and that while I love the kids with all my heart I do get jealous of coming in last place all the time. It's tough, man. Believe me, I can relate. Then I think about that time, that isnt that far away when you think about it, when the kids will eventually move on and we'll be able to hear a pin-drop in the house.

I need to get back on my anti-depressants...

My wife and I also struggle to find time to do things together. Between my new job, the bar admission course, her new job (she's a teacher assistant dealing with special needs children), our kids and church responsibilities, there really isn't a whole lot of time left, and when we do have time, sometimes it's a fight before we find anything we'd like to do together. I'm a movie nut and love to go to the theatre to check out movies, whereas she would rather go out to dinner. I have no problem with doing both, but the trick is to find a movie we both like (if you look at our DVD collection, the split is about 60% mine, 30% kids and 10% my wife's). We make it work, though.

No, but I'm not much of a sports fan myself. She did watch the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey game with me, though.

Wait untill the 'World Cup' starts in the UK - and around the 'World' of corse. Apart from you guys in the States that is. Why fooball never cought on there I'll never understand? Not that I'm much of a footy fan, but I do like watching the world cup. Especially when Italy beat Englands ass, untill Italy get kicked that is, then it's "Come on England" Unless England are out first then it'll be "Champione"
It's hard supporting two sides!

But anyhow, there's gonna be plenty of pissed off and bored women aroun - June, July time.
So if your a single lad going on a holiday this year, make sure you go when the world cup's on.
It's a fact that most girls go on holiday around that time.
