FFVII: Advent Children - Bonus DVD (* unfinished project *)

Well, if any of you have been paying attention to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, you’ve probably heard that the US version finally has a release date in April.

Press Release

So I’ve decided to compile a little extra DVD to go along with the official release that will included subtitled versions of anything that was not included in the US version from the Japanese releases as well as any other extras I can find.

Using the press release as a complete list, the DVD will currently have the following:

From Japanese Advent Pieces DVD:
-FFVII: Last Order
-Advent Children Trailers

From Various Other Sources:
-FFVII Tech Demo for PS3
-Additional Compiliation of FFVII Trailers
-Dirge of Cerberus Cutscene FMVs
-Gackt’s Redemption music video as well as the Redemption: FFVII Version music video.

All items will be high-quality DVD rips, and I probably won’t even have to compress them to fit on a single layer DVD.

I kind of abandoned my fan edit after I reformatted my computer, but maybe I’ll come back to it some day. In the meantime, this ought to give me my AC editing fix.

Wow, the interest in this is overwhelming.

Anyhow, as a small update, I've decided to, as a sub-release of this, make a DVD that has ONLY the Dirge of Cerberus cutscenes, since I just got my Limited Edition DoC soundtrack that comes with a box to hold the OST, the game, and Gackt's single. But since I don't need the game since I don't even have a PS2, I'll just make my own DVD to fill the hole, heh.

EDIT - Oh yeah, added the two Redemption MVs as new features.

Will there be a feature that explains what the heck is happening in the movie for non Final Fantasy fans?

As much as I'd like to put something like that in there, I can't see how to really do it without having to do a voiceover, which I don't really want to do, since I have a really annoying voice, heh. My fan edit of AC will have subtitles that will explain events as they go along though, so that's something to look forward to I suppose.

Anyhow, I finished up the cover for the DoC DVD (even though the DVD itself isn't done, heh).

And a poorly photographed way of showing how it looks next to the official ones:

I realized the case can actually also fit a slimcase DVD in it, so I'll throw together a little DVD with a bunch of Compiliation of FFVII trailers on it to fill the remaining gap, heh.

Alrighty, the DoC cutscene DVD is 100% complete! It's not too bad for my first DVD.

Now, how do you guys want me to distribute this? Should I torrent it, or newsgroups, or what?

Alright, a few things...
1. I found someone to translate the cutscenes, so I'll release the DVD when those are done so it'll have subs.
2. No one here wants this DVD, you can admit it, heh.
3. I won't start the Advent Children Bonus DVD until Advent Children comes out because recently the features listed by official sources have varied slightly, so it's kind of unclear to me what it'll be missing.

Anyhow, some screens of the DVD itself for show-off purposes:

My first time making a DVD with menus and such... The red is, of course, the selection.

Many thanks Dayv. I'm very pleased with myself on this, since the entire thing turned out a lot better than I thought (the DVD cover and the DVD itself).

Knolly I'd be interested in any Final Fantasy discs you churn out. I start going to university next week though, so I'll be even poorer than I am now

@Dayv
I used DVD-lab PRO for this one. It was surprisingly easy to use for me.

@klokwerk
PM me your address. I'd be more than happy to send you a copy of the disc once I get the translations for the cutscenes.

Ah, thanks for that. So it seems the only thing it's missing is Last Order. I guess I could slap a few trailers for the Compiliation onto it and call it a third bonus disc, but it somehow seems underwhelming. I've decided not to include the DoC cutscenes since this is an AC bonus disc, and nothing else... Hmm... I've gotta find something good. Give me a day or two to think.

Okay, so I got an official copy of the DVD, and am quite disappointed... The subs aren't accurate at all, since they used what's known as "dubtitling", which is, instead of the subs being translations of the Japanese, they're pretty much rough copies of the english, which leads to some very crappy moments...

Anyhow, so I've decided my DVD lineup will be this (in no particular order)...

-Advent Children Bonus DVD, consists of:
--FFVII Tech Demo
--FFVII: Last Order
--Additional Compiliation Trailers
--Bonus Features from the Gamestop Bonus DVD
-Advent Children - Master Edition
--A DVD of AC that consists of true translation subs, as well as additional subs that explain what is going on as the movie plays for someone who hasn't played the game.
-Dirge of Cerberus Cutscene DVD
--Basically what I've already made, except with Subs
-Final Fantasy VII - The Movie
--This one is a way off, because I need some people to finish up a patch that will enhance the graphics of the game, but I'll basically capture a FFVII playthrough and make a movie of it, hopefully with voice actors and everything.

That sounds very damn cool. Sucks that they dubtitled the US release.

Oh man, that sounds awesome! I was just thinking somebody should do that. I really look forward to it.

Q: Any chance of including the IGN interviews from the LA premier? There are about 8 of them.

And one further addition (sorry. ^_^;. Does anyone know what's on the Gamestop bonus disc?

Where would the source for Last Order come from? I think I have them from 2 different fansub groups. I'd totally be interested in this project, and the Cerberus disc.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

@guiltyspark
Sure, I'll toss the interviews on there. The gamestop disc is a kind of making-of-the-dub thingy, that'll be on there too.

@BrikHaus
The subs will be pretty accurate ones from the internet (the ones used in the Hiro subbed copy), but the video will be a direct rip from the Advent Pieces bonus DVD.
