I'm gonna edit this later.

Sweet Jesus, that would rule. Please do!

I heard from some reviewers online for the 2001: SpaceOdyssey DVD that the film-to-dvd transfer wasn't very well done, and they were more impressed with the Laserdisc transfer that came out before. I looked the DVD over again--the scenes at the space station seemed a little blurry--Some Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite star fields didn't show up as much as I thought they were meant to (can't be sure, haven't seen anything, but the DVD). In the pan up just before the star gate, the star field doesn't show at all, then suddenly grows in brightness--like we're supposed to appreciate it just before it disappears after the star gate begins to open.

I figured one day getting together a project to capture the laserdisc transfer and put that on DVD--(with the alternate Alex North score that was mentioned) and giving the film a more impressive DVD menu than what was released. Thing of it is I don't have a means of capturing it...XO guys wanna collaborate?

Here're more ideas...

Bram Stoker's DRACULA - Perhaps take both the SuperBit DVD and Criterion laserdisc extras including commentary and make a two disc release of it. I think digitalfreaknyc has this in mind for when he get's around to doing this.

This is up for editing later.

That's sounds reallt interesting. From what I recall, FFC went through dozens of edits of Bram Stoker's Dracula before finalizing the version we now have in theatres.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai - This MIGHT be an easy one... Extract the film and audio, then extract all the deleted scenes and re-intigrate them back into the picture. Might as well include the prologue.

a couple of ideas

Re-create the original theatrical version of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. there has been the special edition relese and Speilberg's final cut, the Collector's Edition. wouls love to see how it played in cinemas.

Pyscho (1998) HEAR ME OUT!!!! was thinking about this the other day. pretty pointless remake if you ask me but was wondering what it would look like if it redone in black and white, plus some fine grain to make it match the original version. edit out the additional scenes and stupid flashes and maybe, MAYBE sync in the soundtrack from the original! just an idea!

While watching the new Psycho, I actually pondered what it would look like if you mixed them together. Tony Perkins' Norman doing in Anne Heche's character, etc. It would be surreal!

I’m probably about to list a load of films that somebody’s on with already or has asked for as well but I’m sure you can appreciate I don’t have the time to look at every post on the forum. So if I do mention something somebody can help me with please drop me a line.

Back to the Future Trilogy with all the deleted scenes put in, I don’t mind if the picture quality isn’t great as long as they sync up well. And Back To The Future: The Ride, I know its been mentioned somewhere so does anyone have a copy I could get hold of? Also has anyone thought about a way to do something with the book-ends of Christopher Lloyd from the Back To The Future Animated Series and also Doc in the music video of ‘That’s The Power Of Love’?

And what about an edit of the movies that excludes part II so basically you get the Clock Tower scene in the first movie then just after Marty has got back to 1985 and Doc looks up at the clock you then go straight in to Part III or use the ending of Part II then edit into III.

Another way also I’d like to see is Part I’s scenes in 1955 inter-cut with the 1955 scenes from Part II and you follow that side by side until, as I mentioned above you move into Part III.

There is all manner of edits I’d like to see with Back to the Future, such as a chronological edit or a full on none stop Parts I-III.

What else would I love to see:

Ghostbusters II the way it was shown at cinemas however I don’t know of anywhere where you can get the original scenes anymore. Also if there was someway of incorporating Dan Ackroyds cameo from the Casper remake in the 90’s with Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters II that would be cool.

What about a Batman that takes the core Tim Burton 1989 film and incorporates flashbacks from Batman Begins and maybe a little tweaking so it doesn’t come out with the Joker being the one that killed Bruce’s parents (I know someone is doing the opposite but I like the fact Begins did the plot from the comics).

And I know somebody has done/or is on with a ‘Forever’ and ‘Robin' edit. I’d like to see a Forever edit like my previous comment, where appropriate, the flash backs are some from Begins. Oh and I’d love to see a Batman Begins with the Danny Elfman Score.

I know there is more however I cant think of them yet. . . but I will

BATMAN BEGINS is the start of a whole new series! Don't you even know it's the start of a whole new Batman film series?! It's pointless to even think of the stupidity of trying to link the 1989-1997 Batman series with the new one! I deem that an extremely stupid idea and not condone it in the slightest. You'd be wasting your time. Same goes for anyone else who thinks it's a "good idea" to try and connect the new film series with the old one.

In the "Isolated Score Tracks - Your Wishlists" thread, I was joking about someone making an isolated score track for "2001: A Space Odyssey". Yes, it would be pointless (that's the joke).

Now today I was thinking how kewl it would be if someone would make a new version of this film using the original Alex North score as recorded by Jerry Goldsmith as one of the audio tracks. There can be two audio tracks one with the original versions music and another with North's score.

Anyone?

FF

Hey that was my idea!

i'm toying with the idea of integrating it into the 2001 project that i'm currently working on (details here)

thanks go to bigrob for supplying the score...does anyone know the intended start/stop queues for this music?

Mr. & Mrs. Smith:Ultimate Extended Edition
when the Unrated DVD comes out it will include edits and additions,so maybe someone can make a "Ultimate Extended Edition" with all the scenes available. Add the Unrated scenes, the Theatrical scenes, and the extra scenes on both discs.

Blade Runner:

I personally don't hate the fact that Deckard is an android in the eyes of Ridley Scott, but I prefer thinking he's human. So how about an edit taking out the Deckard is an android stuff? Somehow removing the red twinkle in his eye at the end, the unicorn dream, and maybe with some clever editing, we can make Gaff look like he has a unicorn fetish so the oragami unicorn makes some sense.

This is what I really want to see though: I was reading some of the passages from Paul Sammon's book "Future Noir" about how hard it was for them to track down the unicorn footage for inclusion in the Director's Cut. In fact, it goes on to show that many collaborators on the film were left dumbfounded as to why Scott wanted a unicorn to begin with. So why not replace the unicorn dream with - get this - a sheep dream! Anyone who has read Philip K. Dick's original novel "Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep?" knows what I'm getting at. Heck, someone really good with this stuff can make a few shots of an animal catalog and insert it in a way to make it look like Deckard wants to buy a real sheep as per his reason for taking the job in the novel.

Not entirely serious with all of that, but it could be interesting.

The first ever edit i did was The Hellraiser Chronicles

here is a breif discription of what i did, take a deep breath

I took hellraiser 4 bloodlines and split it into three parts. removing the start and end credits. i used the spaceship scenes as bookends.
i used the first flashback as the first story. the creation of the puzzle box. i ended this scene with the opening scene of hellbound with the creation of pinhead.
then hellraiser one starts playing. i removed the tramp scene in the pet shop and at the end. then hellbound starts with kirsty waking up at the channard instiute. this plays through until the end. then hell on earth begins. again, this plays through until the end.
i then edit iin the middle story of bloodlines (set in the present in the building). i've tried to make this so the viewer is convinced that the building at the end of hell on earth is the same as this one.
this plays through and we finally end up in the future on the space ship where the story finishes.
this is played out so that the whole story is told by the toy maker. i can't remember his name sadly. i put this together about 6 years ago and all i had was two VCR's, the videos and an edit board which was connected between the two VCR's. the only edit options i had was fade out and fade in, with the inclusion of mixing sound in via external source.

I was checking out the Spiderman movies this weekend and saw there was a blooper reel on the DVD. So I thought it would be funny if someone reinstated the bloopers into the film. Just cut in the shot with the blooper, and just move on with the story after the shot's through:

"Allright, Uncle Ben, I think I understand what you're getting at. But I need to go."
"Wait, Peter."
"Yes?"
--cut in--
"Remember: With great power...comes great responsi--phhtht! Oh my God, I couldn't get through that--(laughter from the set)--Hey what? Hey what? Toby here's making faces at me! Come on! Oh Jesus--lol! Sam, get some kind of not-goofing-off double for this kid! Ahhh come here you grrrr!!!"
--cut back--
(serious again) "Allright Ben, I got to go."

Yes I think he is human. He doesn't have the super strength the Androids seem to have, which as a Blade Runner would be quite an important asset to posess!

*I'm sure this sounds heretical, however, I want to see a revision of Alfred Hitchcock's Rope which leaves the murder ambiguous until the end. Not sure how to pull it off, haven't seen the film in about six months, but the original play from which the work was taken had the audience guessing until the end.

*More heresy, but I would also like to see a version of DePalma's Scarface with a traditional score rather than the electric boogaloo contained therein.

*How about a cut of The Mummy Returns that eliminates the majority of the cloying and retarded kid.

*While we're on the topic, can we get a edit on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom that cuts out most of short-round and Spielberg's mongoloid bitch of a wife?

*Also, an alternate version of The Frisco Kid would be nice. One that cuts down some of the weaker jokes and tightens the pacing.

Just watched Chronicles Of Riddick Director's Cut.
good film but i do feel that the director's cut could do with a few nip and tucks in places.

Have you seen the shorter theatrical cut?

yeah when it came out at the cinema. i prefered the theatrical version to the director's cut.
the director's cut is good but like i said, it ould do with a few edits here and there.

I thought the directors cut was ok, and strengthened the story with the extra footage.

Oh, and another one. How about a cut of Galaxy Quest that captures the original tone from the script - darker, more grown up, less jokey.

I have an idea that i would like to have a go at. i have the FX TV version of Halloween H20 which includes alternate cuts of existing scenes and i believe additional scenes. what i am thinking of doing is to incorprate this into the film using a fullscreen master (VHS preferred) and create a ulitmate cut. Gotta get hold of a VHS version first. i'm using MAC OS X and would being using iMovie to edit it. this would be my first attempt at a offical fan edit. i would be using the basic editing program and iDVD to master the DVD.

any ideas?
